Chapter 2: Why Are You Here?

"Alaina...!" and just seeing her again after all of these years brought back all the feelings I had pushed aside for her...HATRED!

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

I stood there glaring at her with my jaw clenching and my eye twitching. She was the last person I had expected to ever see again, let alone be my new Physical Therapist. After that day, I never wanted to see her again...at least part of me didn't.

"You know each other?" I hear Trent ask next to me. I guess he noticed the awkward silence and my glare towards Alaina.

Alaina stared at me and then glanced over at Trent. "As a matter of fact, we did, back in College." she smiled but it didn't reach her beautiful chocolate brown eyes...the ones I used to get lost in back then.

Looking back at me she says "Colin, nice to see you again. It's been a long time." nodding her head.

"It has." I say blankly nodding my head. I didn't want Mr. Baalke seeing how her presence was affecting me or lack off. I needed to act professional, especially if Trent was around. I need my career back.

Silence again until he spoke "Well, I see. Anyways Ms. Herrera, we are very happy that you have decided to join our Niners family. I know that you will be a great asset here. I've heard nothing but amazing things about your techniques and your 100 % recovery rate on your patients. We are confident you will be able to rehabilitate Colin over here right on time. We need to have him at his top capacity this upcoming season...right Kap?" he says patting my good shoulder. Wish he had this much confidence in me last year.

Alaina looked at him "I will do my best to help him get better. I always give 110% to my patients...as long as they do the same. Failure is not an option!" she tells him seriously then looked at me. Yeah, if only she would have given me her 110% when we were together instead of giving up on our relationship like she did...I still don't know why she left.

"I know Colin will give it his all. I know how much he wants to get back on the field." Baalke commented.

"We will see in the next few months. So Mr. Kaepernick, I was hoping we could discuss your rehabilitation plan and schedule your appointments for the next few weeks?" she asked cocking her perfect brow. I have to say, she still looked beautiful, more mature.

"Umm, sure." I tell her. Great...

"Great. If you would like we could go to my office for privacy." she says.

"Sure." I shrug my shoulder. I guess that will be my answer to her for today. I wasn't going to show her that I let bygones be bygones. She has to know she didn't have a hold on me anymore. "I've moved on...yeah...I've moved on!" I tell myself.

"Okay, follow me then. Mr. Baalke, I will see you later?"

"Yes Ms. Herrera I will see you later. Colin, good to see you and we will also speak later." Trent says leaving Aliana and I alone.

We watched him leave and once again there was awkward silence between us. I guess this is the way it was going to be...us not knowing what to say to one another, even though I had plenty to say.

"So, will you please follow me to my office Co-I mean Mr. Kaepernick?!" she breaks the silence looking at me.

Nodding my head she walked in front of me. Following behind I notice how much her body had changed, it was tight and curvaceous in all the right places. Don't get me wrong, Aliana had an amazing body back in College, a reason why so many guys wanted to bang her. I have to admit that when I first saw her, those were my intensions, but there was something about her that was different from the females I messed with. She had been hard to get but once I did, I never wanted to let her go. She put me in my place when needed, saw through my lies and B.S. and most of all, she made me become a better man...the man she could be proud off. But I guess that hadn't been enough.

Watching her tight ass move in the slacks she was wearing had me think back on the times I would just squeeze it, especially when we made love. I was addicted to our love making, to her body and to her. It had been hard not having her.

Making it in front of her office she opened the door and let me go in first. Stepping in, I see boxes around...guess she hadn't finished unpacking yet.

"Sorry for the mess, I haven't had the time to set the office like I would like." she read my mind. "Please sit down." coming around she motioned to the chair in front of her desk but I ignored her and instead walked over to the wall where she had frames up. They were her degrees and some family and friend portraits. I move over to the bottom of her UNV degree and see a picture of...us? Actually, it was us and a group of our close friends on our Graduation day wearing our cap and gowns. I was holding her bridal style and kissing her cheek while she was laughing. It was after the ceremony and before I...

"Colin...I" she began to say and just hearing her call my name stirred something inside of me. Snatching the picture frame from the wall I went in front of her and slammed it on her desk shattering the glass.

"WHY THE F*** ARE YOU BACK IN MY LIFE ALIANA...IT WASN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU TO DUMP ME ON GRADUATION DAY AFTER I PROPOSED TO YOU? HUH? THEN LEAVING TO GOD KNOWS WHERE PRETENDING YOU AND I HAD NOTHING?! DID YOU THINK IT WAS EASY FOR ME? CAUSE IT SEEMS THAT IT WAS FOR YOU! DID YOU COME BACK TO RUB IT IN MY FACE THAT YOUR LIFE TURNED OUT BETTER BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF YOUR LIFE? WHAT THE F*** DID I DO TO YOU?" I screamed surprising her.

I straightened myself and took a step back glaring at her. My breathing was shallow since I was pissed. How and why is she back in my life? She made it clear four years ago that she didn't want to be with me...a part of my life. Rejecting me after I proposed to her. I loved her so f'ing much that I asked her to marry me...she was the only girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. There was never another after her. Now I'm lucky if I get a girl who doesn't think "she's the one"!

We had a staring contest until she cleared her throat and stood up picking up the shattered frame in her small hands. The hands that used to hold me tight each time we were together.

"Col-I mean Mr. Kaepernick...I understand..."

She understands? "NO...YOU DON'T! You will never understand what I went through after you rejected me Aliana...never...so don't say you "UNDERSTAND"!? You understand sh**!" I spat. I needed to leave before I really do and say something I will regret later.

She stared at me then flopped down on her chair looking down at the picture. "I didn't think so...!" I said turning on my heels. I had to leave her office so I could clear my mind.

Before opening the door she called out to me "Colin Rand...wait!" but I didn't turn around.

Taking a deep breath I looked over my shoulder and said "DON'T...you don't get to say my name...only the people who know me and care about me can say it...you are NO ONE to me anymore Ms. Herrera...except my Physical Therapist...and even that we'll see about!" opening the door I slammed it shut. I had to get the hell out of here...I couldn't let her get under my skin again...she had me under her spell once and I will never let her get my heart again...that's a PROMISE!
