"Haa!" Leon jabbed his gunblade forward, stopping inches from Kairi's stomach.

"—That will happen." Cloud finished.

"Though the real enemy won't stop." Leon lowered his gunblade. "And a Heartless will rip your heart out. Keep your center—your heart—protected at all costs."

Kairi nodded in fascination. "So what else can I improve on?"

Leon smiled ever so slightly, glad to have an eager student. "I think that's enough for today, you're already getting better."

"But I want to learn more! To be strong and able to protect myself and those around me."

"And that's great motivation," Cloud said. "But it's all about balance. Training hard but also making sure you can give your body a break." He frowned. "At least starting off. Sometimes when it's desperate... You have to keep going no matter what."

"But for now," Leon cut in. "It's time to head back. You did well today. Maybe tomorrow we can do more."

Cloud put Kairi's sword back into its sheath and handed it to her. "We know you're good with a sword, but we have to find your weapon. And when that happens, a weapon that is tied with you, you'll be able to summon it without having to carry it around."

Kairi put on the sheath and held the handle of the sword. "I wonder what my weapon is..."

"You'll find it eventually," Leon said.

Kairi sighed. "I wish I already knew how to fight well like [Name]... I guess something before she lost her memory allowed her to train."

Cloud chuckled. "Wish she did less fighting and more cooking honestly..."

Kairi shot a pointed look at him. "What are you saying, girls are meant to stay in the kitchen instead of fight?"

He held up his hands in defense. "No! No, not at all. Obviously there are amazingly talented fighters, male or female, I'm just saying I hope next time she doesn't burn down our kitchen."

Kairi backed down a bit. "Oh. Sorry."

Leon smirked. "Trust me, Cloud knows how kickass girls can be."

Cloud gave him the stink eye and turned back towards Merlin's. "Anyway, if you could at least teach [Name] how to boil water, we'd be appreciative."

"Otherwise it's the same old takeout food Cloud and I have been eating for the last year..."

Kairi looked at them. "Wait, you don't eat anything but take out!?"

"Well sometimes when Aerith or Cid is nice enough to make us invite us for dinner we get to eat good food, but otherwise we're either too busy or too lazy—"

"—And we can't cook—" Cloud added.

"—to make food. We skip breakfast, grab a sandwich for lunch, and take out for dinner."

"...That's... so sad," Kairi said, shaking her head. "How about I come over tonight and teach [Name] and you two how to make a simple supper?"

"Um, that's not—" Leon started.

"—really necessary," Cloud finished, looking panicked.

"If you just expect [Name] to cook for you, you're sorely mistaken," Kairi said, striding forward and leading the way back.

Cloud and Leon looked at each other.

"I think I liked it better when we just ate like crap."

"Me too."
