I don't remember much before I woke up in an unfamiliar room with a man looming over my head.
I jerk away in fear from him but I am stopped by a sharp pain in the top of my head.
I throw my hand to the source of the pain.
"Kaia," the man says.
My dart over to him. I get a better chance to look at him. He is wearing a long white coat with a stethoscope around his neck.
Why is there a doctor looking at me? I think.
My eyes scan the room I'm in. They stop when I see Louis sitting in a chair next to a curtain. His expression is filled with worry.
"W-what's wrong?" I ask. "Why I am I here?"
"Kaia, dear," the doctor says. "you fell and hit your head on the ice. Your friends brought you here."
My hand goes back to where I felt the pain.
Louis runs over to my side. "Are you okay?" he asks, his eyes holding the same worried expression.
I nod slightly. "It just hurts a bit."
The doctor does some scribing on it before passing it to Louis.
"She doesn't have a concussion," he says while Louis examines the paper. "But, I would suggest she rest it for a couple of days."
"So she can go home now?" Louis asks, hopefully.
"Yes," the doctor replies.
Louis helps me from the bed and continues holding my hand as we walk from the room, him sending the doctor a quick 'thank you' and continuing through the hospital.
"Did I really fall that bad?" I ask him, while we wait for his driver.
"I didn't see it happen," he explains. "All I heard was Lia shouting my name and then I saw you on the ground with a cut on your forehead."
"I'll talk to Lia, later then," I reply, just as his driver pulls to the entrance of the hospital.
Louis opens the door for me before running to the other side of the car to hop in on that side.
"You're such a gentleman," I laugh.
"You're a lucky girl, Kaia," he says. "I don't do this for all the girls, you know."
"I'm flattered," placing my hand on my heart.
"You should be," he says seriously.
We stare at each other for a few moments and then burst into laughter.
"When we get home, I'll make you a big bowl of soup and bring it to you in bed," Louis says out of nowhere.
"You know I'm not that kind of sick, right?" I ask. "I'm not even sick at all. I just hit my head."
"Yes, I know," he replies. "But the doctor told you to rest and I'm going to make sure you're comfortable."
I look at him and raise my eyebrows.
"Why are you doing this?" I ask.
"Doing what?" He looks confused.
"Being so nice to me," I reply.
He scrunches his eyebrows, making him look even more confused.
"I mean, you're Louis Tomlinson! I'm just... Kaia... Normal, boring, non-extravagant, Kaia..."
"Kaia," he starts, rolling up the divider between us and his driver so he can't hear us. "You are one of the most amazing people I know. Why would you ever think you were any of those things?"
"I just... I don't know..." I sigh. "I just don't look super extraordinary compared to you and the boys."
"You are too super extraordinary!" Louis says, sort of sounding like a five year old. "Everyone is extraordinary in their own way. The boys and I, our thing is singing... yours is being amazing..."
I lower my head to hide the growing redness on my face.
"I'm serious, you know," he says. "You're amazing."
"So are you," I reply.
"Kaia," he says quietly.
My head turns back to face him.
"Louis," I answer.
"I, I think I'm in love with you," he says.
Louis has said 'I love you' to me before. I guess never really believed it. I love him, of course, but I never really imagined him meaning it. He's famous, for god's sake, of course I didn't think he meant it.
But when he said it at this moment, there was no doubt in my mind that he didn't mean what he said with every bone in his body.
The way his eyes met mine, with a certain shine in them, almost as if he'd known it all along yet he was only realizing it now.
I'm at a loss for words.
"Louis..." Is all I can manage.
"It's okay if you don't feel the same about me," he says in a sad yet understanding tone, lowering his head. "It is. Even if you don't, I definitely do and-"
"Louis," I interrupt him mid-sentence. "I do too."
His eyes returns their gaze to mine.
"Why do you look so shocked?" I ask him, letting out a small laugh.
"I just didn't think you felt the same way," he admits.
"Why wouldn't I?" I ask.
"Because you're so pretty," he replies. "I would think all the guys were running after you."
"Well, then," I begin. "you must be terribly mistaken. I haven't had a boyfriend at all in my life."
"I am proud to say that I am your first boyfriend," Louis says, smirking and crossing his arms.
"I, ah, don't remember you asking to be my boyfriend," I say, lifting an eyebrow.
"Well," Louis says, uncrossing his arms. "Would you, Kaia Danielle Tyler, make me the happiest man on earth and... be my girlfriend?"
"I would be honoured."
Welcome back, people of the earth!
Who else is happy that Louis and Kaia are officially boyfriend and girlfriend?
