Part Seven
"Jessica, if you're not too busy Friday evening we have a charity event that we'd love to invite you to. You're work over the past two weeks has been incredible and we'd be honoured if you could come with us." My manager said to me, as he sat down in my office.
"Wow, err, yeah of course. I'd love to come, but would I be able to bring my daughter? My mother left a few days ago and I don't have any childcare at the moment." I asked, leaning forward in my chair.
"Of course, there's going to be a few children there anyway as other members of staff can't find childcare either, so we decided that this would be an event for both children and adults." As you can quite clearly tell my manager's one of those constant professional people.
"OK great." I smiled.
"Now that's over and done with, I'd like you to be in charge of the guest list and calling and inviting them all and organising where they are going to sit." He instructed as I jotted it all down on my notepad.
"Is that it?" I asked, not lifting my head up.
"Yep, everything else is being taken care of." He said, standing up and making his way out of my office.
"Wait, Sir?" I asked, as he turned around.
"Out of curiosity, when would you like the guest list sorted for?"
"At the latest, Thursday." He said before walking out.
It's Wednesday now, I only have just over a day to sort out a guest list for a major event for this company. It's 2pm now, I need to pick Lexi up in 45 minutes and I need to get to work on this guest list. Guess I'll just have to work at home for once. I left work with all my files and picked Lexi up from her daytime nursery then made our way home.
"Lexi I have to work, so do you think you could go and watch TV or play in your room for a bit please?" Of course with Lexi only being 2 she caused a bit of a fuss but after a lot of shouting and tanrums from her she eventually went and played in her room. I sat at the breakfast bar, opened up my files and put my notepad and pen at the side of me as I made a few calls to a list of celebrities mangers.
2 hours later and I'd only gotten 5 celebrities to turn up after ringing up about 13 different managers, why is this so difficult?! I'm going to be at this for 2 days straight, so I rang up my manager and told him what was going on, resulting in him telling me not to come in for the next 2 days until this guest list was completed. Sighing, I put my head in my hands before sitting up and checking my phone to see a text off Aston from near enough 2 hours ago;
[hey, i heard lexi shouting from over here, everything ok? xx]
[yeah everything's fine, she was just being a little madam:/ xx] Seeing as it's been 2 hours since he text me I didn't really expect a reply but I got one near enough straight away anyway.
[you ok? you don't seem yourself babes xx]
[just stressed xx]
[on my way :)xx]
I made Lexi some beans on toast and sat her down with a drink on the carpet in front of the TV so she could continue to watch her programmes. After I made 2 or 3 more phone calls I had to get up to answer the door as a guess that it would be Aston.
"Right then you, what's got you all stressed out?" He said, strolling in and sitting on the seat opposite mine at the breakfast bar after seeing my files along with paper spread all over the worktop.
