This is where my story begins, chained to an ice-cold bolder just outside of my village. My hands chained above my head, the rest of my body dangle beneath me. My arms straining against my own weight. I could feel the cool winter breeze hit my thin-clothed body, sending chills down my spine.

My attire was meant to give off the impersonation of 'Little Red Riding Hood', a girl from a neighbouring village who died at the claws of a wolf. My village played on the story, dressing the chosen sacrifices in the same attire of a red hooded cape and a thin white dress.

To comprehend what was happening, I guess you'd have to understand what our village is going through. You see, our village has had some sort of pest problem for quite some time now. Although, I doubt you can call wolves pest...

Wolves used to terrorise our village up until a year ago, to when our priest came up with the idea of holding sacrifices for the wolves...

Everyone was shocked and appalled at how he could suggest such a thing, but he persuaded them into believing him. I didn't. As of now, our society was men dominate, women weak. That meant they would sacrifice females because they couldn't let their precious little men die, now could they? It was repulsive.

The village would only do these sacrifices on a full moon, that meant 12-13 girls a year would die due to this sick offering of peace. The priest would choose the girls, their age ranging from 13-60. Since our village was not huge or ginormous, the moment we started running low on girls, the hunters of our village would go to others and kidnap any females that were alone or unescorted.

It was disgusting how the priest used fear to play with the villagers, telling them that it was the only way to stay safe. For the males to stay safe...

I thought they would choose me considering my father was a respected doctor. Unfortunately, while out on a job he was attacked and killed by a wolf. Wasn't until a week later when his body was found...

This now told us that they didn't care about a sacrifice or not, they would still kill if we ever left this village at night.

Even with my family being respected among the community, I was still chosen due to being framed when gathering groceries this morning. The meats butcher's son in town had been trying to woo me for years now, yet I had never reciprocated his feelings. He was cruel to his animals, beating and torturing them before ending them. How could I marry someone so ferocious?

For the fourth time, I turned down his marriage proposal this morning. The rage that grew on his face was enough to tell me he was done pleading. Unfortunately, there was a full moon tonight and they had yet to pick a victim...

And that's how I ended up here, awaiting my death.

Although worried about my predicament, I couldn't stop thinking about my family. It only consisted of my brother, Andrew, and my sickly mother. Being only 10, Andrew couldn't become the man of the house just yet, leaving the slack to my mother and I. We were as happy and content you could be after losing my father, yet we continued on with life thanks to the help of my mother's clothing business. That didn't last long though...

She was struck down with some unknown illness that no doctor could diagnosis, leaving myself to provide for my family. To make ends meet, we occasionally sold eggs day to day, but sometimes that wasn't enough.

As I thought back to how this all happen, I was brought back to reality with the sound of snow crashing until someones or somethings feet. I raised my head to the direction of the noise. Obviously, as I was blindfolded I did not know if it was really the wolf, but I did sense a presence.
