The Car Ride

The rain is hammering down like bullets onto my windscreen as I park in my usual space. Now confessing to myself that I probably should have brought a coat or should have not worn the least water proof clothes I could have possibly done, and also that I should not have misplaced my coat, but the chances that it could have been left in the office is a strong probably.
Sprinting into through the doors, glistening raindrops dropping off my nose,  my golden brown locks now soaking and heavy under the strain, I'm met by Lewis, although he's not the usual Lewis,  he seems panicked and frustrated.
"Smith,  finally you're here!"
"What's up, Lewis?" I ask, now extremely concerned.
"It's Trott, he's been taken to hospital…"
He continues to speak but I don't understand what he's saying. Trott? Chris Trott? The Chris Trott of Hat Films,  in hospital? I zone back and Lewis is staring at me with worried eyes,
"I'm going to see him, if you'd like to come with me?"
I nod, almost dazed and follow him to his car, "Katie called in, she sounded extremely upset, she said that he had collapsed after talking to himself again."

Why is this happening again? The boat I'd managed to bring back to the surface is sinking again, filling with water so quickly so it plummets to the deep dark ocean floor. After Ross was taken to intensive care, I had stayed with him multiple days on end trying to get through to him,  trying to save him and the boat in which followed, but it was no good. I can't let Trott go aswell, "Yeah, let's go."

The car ride is almost silent,  other than the distorted blur of Lewis' dodgy radio, which after being drowned in water during heavy rain a couple months back, had now developed the mentality of a sleeping baby making random noises every once in a while. I feel so agitated and almost as if like time is running out like a sand-timer, not just for Trott but for me too. I can't believe I didn't realise. I can't believe I didn't realise that he was struggling so much. He should have told me! I might have been able to help! Well, not necessarily. But I could have tried!
"Smith…Alex, are you okay?" Lewis asked with a concerned tone, he continued, "I know this has been difficult for you but now more than ever you need to stay strong, not just for Chris, but for yourself aswell.
"Mmm...yeah." I manage to speak but my voice croaks under the fear of losing another friend. No, a brother.
