Chapter Eleven

The national anthem played and the chariot began to move. The chariot moved down the road of the parade. The crowd cheered and threw roses to the tributes. It felt like I was a movie star and at their own movie premier.

Alok turned towards me, his face glowed. He lifted his hand to my cheek and leaned. He was going to try and kiss me, again. I felt my eyes shut and I leaned it closer as well.

Our lips hit and once again I felt sparks fly. I felt my dress start to shake a bit and within seconds small fireworks were shooting from Alok and my costume. The crowd when crazy, they cheered and screamed.

I looked to the side to try and spot Or. He stood in the stands smiling, I waved to him with a smile. He had really out done himself with this dress.

The chariots pulled around a loop and slowed to a stop. President Condust moved towards the microphone up above. He taped it twice to get everyone's attention away from the fireworks that still shot out of my dress.

"Ladies and gentlemen, here are the tributes," he said in a scoffed voice. Cheers erupted through the stands, more roses flew through the air.

With that President Condust waved to the crowd and turned around onto the balcony. He hadn't said much but it had been something that the citizens liked.

The chariot spun around and all twelve headed back through the doors. I hoped down onto the ground with a thud. Alok hoped down beside me his arm wrapped around my shoulder and a grin across his face. Or walked over to us, I ran over to him and practically jumped into his arms.

"Thank you," I kept saying to him. He smiled and wiped the hair away from my face, "Don't thank me Keegan, it was a pleasure to create." I hugged him and walked back to where Alok stood waiting.

"Ready to go back and get something to eat?" he asked rubbing his stomach. We began to walk away when two hands wrapped around my wrists. I was ripped away from the grip of Alok and moved away from him for a moment.

Sandor and Saxon smiled as they held my wrists. "Hey there Sweetmeat," Sandor said with a chuckle. Saxon punched him across the shoulder, "Why do you have to be so creepy?" he asked, rolling his eyes. I tried to wriggle out of their grip but they were much stronger than I ever would be.

"What do you two want?" I spat at them. They looked at me with small frowns across their faces as if I had hurt them. "You don't have to be so rude about it," Sandor said in a childish voice. He pretended to wipe away fake tears, Saxon did the same.

I rolled my eyes, "What do you want?" I asked again. They looked back at me with smirks across their faces, "We want to talk to you about allying." I leaned in closer now interested in what they had to say to me.

"Alright, what do you think of it," I asked, hoping they would ally with me. I'm not sure why I wanted them, but if my father told me to ally with them, I'm taking his word for it. "Well we have been thinking about it and we have decided we aren't allying with you," Sandor straightly said.

Saxon nodded, "You don't really seem to like us. You'd probably kill us in our sleep." I felt my body tense up, "Why would I kill you if I wanted to ally with you?" I yelled at them.

"I thought it was pretty obvious why, we are just two more easy kills for you. Let me remind you that this is a game where you fight to the death," Saxon responded. I opened my mouth to say something but no words came out. I stood there flabbergasted with no words to say.

Sandor began to speak again, "Plus you don't like my jokes and so called creepiness." They both began to laugh, they turned around and walked away. I sighed and walked back over to Alok who was now sitting on a bench.

"What did they want?" he sneered. "They don't want to be allies with us because I don't like Sandor's humor," I responded with an eye roll. Alok began to laugh, "You can't be serious?" I nodded, and Alok knew I was serious.

"Who cares, just two more kids we don't have to worry about taking care of," he said. I agreed, I didn't need anyone else to take care of beside myself. I wasn't even sure if I could do that, so two more people would be unimaginable.

Alok grabbed my hand and headed back to the hotel room. I needed to get some sleep for training tomorrow, it was going to be a long day.
