James is Mine

James got back from Japan. Pumunta sya agad sa room ni Malcolm pagdating palang nya ng bahay.

"Hey, how's Japan?" tanong ni Malcolm sa kanya. His eyes were squinting kasi kakagising lang nya. It's only 4am.

James sat on the foot of his bed, "It was fine. Got you something. I'll give them tomorrow."

"Did you enjoy your stay?" tanong pa ulit ni Malcolm.

"Yeah. Alex came so we had lots of fun. Her girlfriend's cousin toured us around." kwento ni James.

Bumangon si Malcolm sabay himas sa likod ni James, "What happened?"

"Nothing. I'm just tired. Just wanna see you before I sleep." deny ni James. Of course, something is bothering him.

"She's still mad at you?" sabi ni Malcolm.

James stared at him, wondering. Hindi pa naman kasi sya nagkukwento kay Malcolm ah.

James asked, "How did--"

Natawa si Malcolm, "I'm your dad. I know you. I asked Lauren the other day about the issue. I heard people gossiping about it while I was waiting for you backstage. Of course they were talking in Filipino so I didn't understand half the things they said."

Napayuko si James. I know he made a mistake, and he doesn't wanna disappoint his Dad.

Malcolm comforted him, "Hey, I made mistakes too. Much more terrible ones. I was a playboy when I was younger. You know that."

Natawa si James. Totoo naman kasing malakas sa mga babae ang Daddy nya.

"But the thing is, it was too late when I decided to change. To become a better person. To stop fooling around. It was too late when I decided to be loyal. She was gone." Malcolm added.

Nagulat si James, "Wait, are you telling me---"

"All I'm saying is, girls are very complicated, but it's really easy to make them happy. All they need is assurance and love. Nadine is actually not mad at you; she's mad at what you did. Even if she's not your girlfriend, you shouldn't be out there kissing other girls. NO MATTER HOW HOT THAT GIRL IS OR HOW DRUNK YOU ARE." sermon ni Malcolm sa anak.

Tumango si James, "I'll keep that in mind."

Inakbayan ni Malcolm si James, "I know you wanna live in the moment, son, but I don't want you to make the same mistakes that I did. I love Nadine, she's a very sweet girl. She's a keeper. Learn how to keep her, before it's too late."

"Thanks, Dad." sabi ni James, sabay yakap sa tatay.

Paalis na sana sya ng kwarto kaso may naalala sya bigla, "But wait. Who are you talking about? Who's gone before you know it? Are you talking about my mom? Or Lauren's? Or Jack's?"

Namula si Malcolm bigla, "You're tired. You better sleep now."

Daya. Ayaw magshare ni Tito. HAHA

Kinaumagahan, tinawagan ni Caryl si James, may sudden change daw sa flights.

(Masyado ka pa bang pagod? Try ko pa-move yung flight natin if you wanna rest pa. Mauna nalang sila Nadz sa Surigao.)

Sabi kasi ni Caryl, Saturday night nalang daw sila lumipad papuntang Surigao, instead na Sunday morning. Peak season kasi dahil summer na kaya yun yung nakuha nilang flight.
