"That son of a bitch! I can't believe he went to your apartment. After all this time." My best friend, Reese says. I had called her right after Tanner left.

I had asked her to meet me at a cafe in downtown Las Vegas. It's a Monday so it doesn't start getting busy till lunch time and it's barely 9 a.m.

"I know! What am I supposed to do though?"

"I swear to god if you tell me you're going to help him. I'll kill you myself." She said, glaring at me. Reese picks up her water and takes a sip and I do the same. My mouth feels dry all of a sudden.

"No, I mean, I..I don't know what to do." I throw my hands up in frustration. "The first time we ran into them we got lucky. But this time...this time they will kill him, Reese." I sighed and hit my head on the table. Looking back up at her she rolls her eyes and sits back in the chair.

"That piece of shit deserves it and you know it." She says. I won't deny that. Me and Tanner had the worst of the worst, relationship. Why we stayed together for five years is beyond me. I guess we were just so used to each other.

I've been doing great, Until he came to my apartment earlier.

"Look," she says, her voice softening. "I get why you want to help him. I do. Y'all dated for a very long time. But he got himself in this, hon. He gets himself out. You, nor I, can do anything about it. Do you want me to talk to, Adriano?" As much as I want her to talk to him, I can't let her, she's right. Tanner did get himself into this when he asked to borrow money again.

Biting the inside of my cheek, I shake my head no.

"Hey." she grabs my hands and Squeeze's them gently. " I won't lie to you. Just prepare yourself for anything. OK?"

Why do you have to be so stupid, Tanner?

I nod again, not trusting my voice at this moment.

"OK." Reese says, doing a drum roll on the table. "Guess who asked about you. Again?" She said, grinning.

"Not this again. Why does he care so damn much?" I asked, sighing.

"Well, I don't know, Bree. What happened between the two of y'all that night?" She asks with her southern accent.

Evrything. "Nothing." I say too quickly.

Those lips. And those eyes. God those eyes.

"Mhm. Interesting." She says, lifting her perfect shaped eyebrow.

I grab my purse and start digging through it. I always do that when I start feeling uncomfortable or when Reese glares at me. Like now. Her blue eyes are making another piercing on my nose.

"Not the purse!" She says dramatically as she throws her hands up. "Oh c'mon Bree Bree. I want the dirty deed."

"No. Stop asking."

"Fine! I'll ask Fabio myself. I have to leave right now anyways or else Dino will get all up on my ass."

I snort. "I'm sure you would love that."

She sighs. "Yeah. You're probably right. Too bad he doesn't give me the time of day." She lets out a loud sigh and sags skittle on the chair.

"Ugh. Anyways." I don't need to know nothing about her sex life, Even though I am the one who started it. But she can at least change the damn subject. "Tell him to fuck off."

She arches an eyebrow. "Fuck off huh? Let's see how he takes that." Reese says chuckling.

"I have to go." I lie as I signal the waitress for the check.

"Be like that then." Reese pouts. "I'll just ask him myself."

"You'll just be wasting your breath, because nothing happened." Jesus.

"Whatever, Aubrey. We both know your lying. And I know you are lying about having to go too. You just got saved you slut, cause I have to head back to the estate. These clients aren't go'in to fuck themselves." I smile sadly at her.

"Reese-" she cuts me off by holding her hand up.

"Don't start. Please." She closes her eyes for a second.

I wish I knew how to help her.

"Just..don't start. I'll call you later if I get any news of what's going on with Mr. Dipshit."

"You just deserve better." I say it fast so she doesn't have time to stop me.

Reese starts walking away. "I'll call you later." She says over her shoulder. I sigh and grab my things.

"Sorry about that, young lady. Here ya go."  The waitress hands me the check.I don't even bother looking at it. I hand her a twenty and walk out.

As I step out of the cafe, the humid air hits me right away. God how I hate this weather.

I look around and start walking. The side walk is so full, I have to dodge people so I won't get trampled on.

My phone starts ringing, so I step to the side and answer it. "Hello?"

"Hey, baby girl. Why haven't you called? Your mother and I have been worried." Ah hell. I shouldn't have answered my phone before checking the number. Too late now.

I squint when the sun becomes too much. "I'm good dad." I say as I make my way to the shade. Someone steps on me and I yelp in pain. "You fucken douche!" I yell at the man, who just mumbles a sorry and keeps walking.

"Who the hell you calling a douche?" My dads asks. I rub my toe with my other foot.

"This dumbass guy who stepped on me. Can I call you later?" There's too much noise I can barely hear my him talk.

"Promise?" He asks in a hurt voice. Way to go Aubrey.

"Yes. I promise. I love you and tell mom hi and I love her too."

"Love ya kid." He says and hangs up.

I make my way back to my apartment. The whole way I was paranoid.

Damn you Tanner.
