Niall didn't know if he was ready for this. He had agreed to do therapy, but now that the building was looming before him, he wasn't so sure. It wasn't that the building was intimidating in any way, but the reality of the situation was finally dawning on him. He was trembling slightly in his seat as Liam stopped the car in the parking lot. Liam undid his seat belt and was about to open the door when he noticed that Niall was shaking. He pulled the door shut again and turned in his seat to face Niall.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, then thought better of it. Instead, he climbed over the armrest dividing the two seats so that his body was pressed against Niall's, his arms instinctively wrapping around the smaller boy as Niall buried his head into the fabric of his shirt.

"Shhh, Niall..." Liam spoke softly. "Its going to be okay."

"I'm scared Liam." A tear that had been resting in Nialls eye spilled over as he spoke. "I'm scared that everyone is going to think I'm crazy and I'm going to lose everyone who matters to me."

Liam rubbed Niall's back a little bit, trying to relax him. "Niall, I promise you won't lose anyone. Everyone loves you Niall, and the only reason we're asking you to do therapy is so you can love yourself too. We don't think you're crazy."

Niall didn't respond, just continued to cling to Liam's shirt. The silence wasn't awkward, but Liam didn't like that he wasn't doing anything to help, so he began to hum a soothing tune.

Slowly, Nialls sobs began to fade And his tears began to dry. After a while, he lifted his head and looked up at Liam curiously.

"I know that tune. What song is it?" He asked, his voice a but scratchy from crying.

Liam stopped humming self consciously and stared down. He realized his close Niall really was to him, and realized that Nialls warm body felt right when it was pressed against his own. He tried to ignore the thoughts and focus on Nialls question, but they lingered in the back of his mind.

"It's called 'This is What it Takes'. It's by a guy named Shawn Mendes." Liam answered Nialls question after only a moment of hesitation.

Niall didn't looks pleased. "I've never heard of it. Could you sing part of it?"

Hesitantly, Liam nodded. He had always been a bit self conscious about his voice and he wasn't really comfortable singing in front of Niall. But he would never deny the boy of anything he wanted.
I watch your troubled eyes as they rest
And I fall in love with every breath
I wonder if those eyes they really shine
And am I the one you're dreaming of?

Cause underneath
The darkness
There's a light that's trying so hard to be seen
And I know this
Cause I've noticed
A little bit shining through the seams

Niall smiled and Liam stopped singing. He looked so content in that moment that Liam didn't want to focus on anything except the smile on his lips and the light in his eyes. Niall looked truely happy, not as if he was faking it, by as if he was truely content with the world in that moment. When Liam stopped singing, he spoke.

"You sang that to me in the car, didn't you?" Niall asked. Liam bit his lip, slowly nodding. He had forgotten about that. Nialls smile only grew. "Thank you Liam. It means a lot."

Niall pulled away from Liam, struggling to make any space between them in the limited area. He opened the door and offered Liam one last smile before walking towards the building. He was ready now, ready to truly try to heal. He had just needed someone to remind him that someone cared, that someone wanted him to get better, had always wanted him to be happy.
