Arisa pov:

I was beyond furious since I had figured out that the homunculi were behind the death of Hughes san. Dealing with the serial killer whose next place of appearance I had guessed had not done much to make my mood better, even though I had been rather merciless to him.

As I always did on missions, I had hid on the rooftops surrounding the spot, waiting for the serial killer to make his appearance. Upon spotting him, I had sprung into action. After cornering him with Leo's help as I had taught him to do – hissing and baring his teeth to startle the killer who was probably just as wary as normal people of chimera – I had dealt ruthless punches and kicks, leaving him in a heap withering in pain just as he deserved to be.

When the other soldiers had found me standing over him, they looked shocked and perhaps even a little wary of me too. Col. Archer too looked surprised but also seemed mildly unhappy because I had found it so easy to catch this guy on my very first attempt when they had failed nineteen times. I suppose it was a big hit to his ego.

"That was a job well done, Arisa. You're just as good as I've heard," he said nonetheless, holding his head high in front of the other soldiers as he complimented me.

"Thank you, Colonel. I've given him a few hits here and there so he shouldn't be able to move for at least an hour because of the pain. It will be easy for you to take him into custody," I said with a bitter smile. The soldiers who stood around us were glaring at me though, clearly unhappy that I was better than them.

"How the hell did she do that? She's just a kid!"

"I think she lied! A little girl like her can't do something like this so easily!"

"I bet she had some dirty tricks up her sleeve!"

Their comments annoyed not just me but Leo as well. Leo hissed at them, baring his teeth, and they flinched at that before glaring back at Leo who only giggled and held my hand, happy that he had shut them up. I was proud that he had become brave and I gave him an affectionate pat on the head.

"If that is all, Colonel, I will excuse for the day," I spoke, giving the colonel a bow. He nodded but handed me a folder before I could leave. Opening it, I found some blank sheets inside. Meeting the colonel's gaze, I questioned, "What are these for?"

"I want you to give me a detailed report on how you were able to catch the killer. I understood how you figured out where he would strike next but seeing that you were able to catch him without any of us helping is intriguing. Besides, we didn't even realize that the killer had turned up until we heard him and the house members scream."

"Alright, I'll have it done by tomorrow afternoon." With another bow, Leo and I left.

Leo skipped beside me as we walked down the dark streets. It was past midnight so there weren't any people walking around – it was some consolation to my bitter mood. After a few moments, I placed a hand on Leo's head making him look at me. I returned his smile, thankful that there was at least one innocent person in my life here.

"You did well today, Leo. Thank you for the help – I couldn't have caught him without you."

His eyes went slightly wide before he blushed and grinned wide enough to show almost all his teeth. With a giggle, he asked, "Ari sama happy?"

"Yes, I'm very happy."

"Yay!" he cheered, jumping once before holding my hand again and walking with his tail swishing from side to side. With a laugh, I shook my head then gazed up at the dark sky lost in thought.
