The Roots That Fell Through

28 1 0

It's a delicate bond, the one that grows between two people

It's feels strong, but could snap at any moment

Because humans are strange

Unpredictable and risky creatures

But we need each other

Because alone is not an option

We crave affection

Of a friend or a lover

And once we find it, we want to hold onto it forever

But sometimes the roots that grew

Fall through

The branches that once held joy

Are now brittle and worn down

People are wonderful, curious creatures

But only for awhile

Because people leave

And it's never with a smile

Perhaps it's because people are the strangest of creatures

But I'll never know

Because I'm all alone
