The smell of (I dunno, something amazing) flooded my nose. I followed the scent, wanting to remember where it was coming from. I've smelled it before, but it's never been this strong.
Following the scent, I wasn't fully focused on my surroundings and I may or may not have ran into somebody.
"Hey." He snarled. "Watch where you're going." He then realized that I, was yet a female and he smirked.
"Hey there gorgeous. I'm sorry to snap. Short temper." He shrugged.
The smell teased me, coming from around the corner. "I'm sorry, I'm just trying to find-"
He cut me off with a finger to my lips. "Shhh. I think you should forget about that and come with me."
"No thanks. I'm trying to find my mate. He's just-"
"Not important." The man growled, cutting me off again. "You should come with me."
I let out a small whimper as the guy tried to drag me away.
"She said no." A voice boomed from behind. The man whipped around to look behind us. People shuffled around and cleared a way for him to see who it was. "Don't you understand what no means?" Calum asked.
The man laughed maniacally. "You dare challenge me, Newcomer? I'm one of the top warriors in the pack."
"Yes. I'm challenging you. Now let go of my mate before we have to get into any trouble." Calum stated, a glint of defiance in his eyes.
Mate? I sniffed again and realized the amazing smell was him. Calum's my mate.
The other man growled andleap forward changing into wolf midair, and tackling Calum to the ground. Calum quickly shifted and rolled so the other wolf was beneath him.
They were battling it out, but I could tell they both were getting tired. I wanted to help, but this was Calum's moment. He needed to do this to prove his worthiness to the pack.
The two wolves stopped fighting and just looked at each other. Calum's lips curled into a snarl and the other wolf ran. Then the area burst into applause as Calum transformed back into himself and stood up, brushing the dust off his pants.
He walked over and I hugged him, him wincing. I immediately pulled away and began scanning his wounds. "Cal, why'd you do that?" I asked, pulling him to the medical offices.
"Because I had to protect my mate." He smiled. "And... and... I think I'm in love with you."
