Chapter Three

Alexei tapped a finger on her cheek. "You should have ran far away from me when you had the chance Jewel."

     "I'm not afraid of you."

A smirk formed into his lips. "I'm glad to hear that, moy angel." He placed a hand on her cheek. "Now, are you prepared to explain what happened earlier?"

Jewel pursed her lips. Alexei could very well hear the gears turning inside her head. He could also note that she was a tough nut to crack. He could bet every dollar that he won't be getting any answers from her.

"Tell me. I can't protect you if you don't trust me moy angel."

She looked at him with those baby blue eyes. It took every ounce of willpower not to crumble and fall down on his knees with the way she looked up to him. He could very well imagine her in a different perspective.

Yes, he was very well screwed. He was not the type of man to mix business and pleasure especially when it came to women. But then the woman in front of him was a different matter.

"I don't need your protection Mr. Nokinov."

He wanted to laugh out loud at her stubbornness. She was an enigma he couldn't wait to solve. He set aside that thought and looked at her seriously. He didn't believe in fate nor destiny.

"That's too bad, milaya. Ever since we met once again, I've considered you under my protection." He caressed her cheek softly.

But he would choose to believe in her and the strong pull of attraction between them.

"And because of your reckless behavior, we need to discuss how I can help you out of your punishment unscathed."

     "Mr. Nokinov-"

"Alexei. Call me by name Jewel. Just like how you shouted my name that night." He teased, earning him a glare from her.

"And here I thought you were a gentleman, Mr. Nokinov."

"Believe me, milaya, I've got every gentle bone in my body when it comes to you."

"And I bet every girl swoon at your feet at those words. Your charms don't work on me, Mr. Nokinov. Just like your threats and your promises."

Jewel finally escaped from his grasp for the umpteenth attempt. She dashed quickly to the door, hoping to provide distance between them. She turned the knob in haste, only to be disappointed when it was locked.

Unlike before Alexei was prepared for her tactics. He had allowed her once to flee, it won't happen twice-- not especially with her.

"You have no where to run, milaya. This hide and seek game you are playing ends now." His hard and commanding tone echoed against the room.

He noticed her slight tremble when he stepped closer to her. "Turn around, moy angel. Look at me."

SEDUCED. If there was one word, Alexei Nikonov would associate with her, it was that. In just one night, the woman in front of him had deduced him from a man to a sinner. Yet again, he had already belonged to hell long before he met her.

He looked into her eyes, and slowly closed the gap between their lips. Nevertheless, he felt like he was closest to heaven with her.

He wasn't a man who simply follow his heart. Hell, he didn't even knew if he had a heart. Not until it started beating--two years ago.
