three years later..
Today was one of those rare days where Blake & I both had the day off, so we just hung out at home.
After I got off the phone with the annoying lady at the bank, Brielle came walking in the kitchen on her tip toes.
"Bweenana," she started, but I quickly cut her off.
"No ma'am. Try it again."
I don't know why she insists on calling me by my name, but my mom said I used to do the same thing when I was her age.
"Mommy, where my brudders?" she asked.
"They're at school," I answered, "I'm gonna pick them up later. You wanna go with me?"
"No," she said plainly.
I laughed at my child, who is the spitting image of her father, and shook my head.
"Brielle, why are you so ignorant?" I asked jokingly.
"I'm not igranant, Mommy," she giggled.
I've been told that I used to act the same way Brielle does, and that she gets her attitude from me. The little girl loves to test me, just like I use to do to my mom. I'm guessing its karma.
"Bri," I heard Blake say from the stairs, "someone just woke up and wants to see you."
He walked in the kitchen with Braden, who started smiling really hard.
"Ma ma!" He reached for me, so I took him from Blake.
"There's Mama's big boy!" I kissed his face all over, and he giggled uncontrollably. "You want something to drink?"
He nodded while sucking on his bottom lip. I got him some juice and when I turned around, Blake was shaking his head.
"You have him so spoiled," he said, "actually, you have all the boys spoiled."
I raised my eyebrow and adjusted Braden on my hip. "Um, let's not because you spoil Brielle way more than I spoil all three boys."
"No, I d-"
I gave him a pointed look, waiting for him to lie.
"Remember last week when she was having that ugly temper tantrum in public?" I asked him, "and remember when I was about to snatch her up but as soon as she cried for her Daddy, you swooped right in to save the day? She has you wrapped around her little finger."
He pretended to think about it for a second while tapping his index finger to his chin. "I don't remember that."
"Mhm. I bet you don't," I chuckled, "anyway, I gotta go get the boys; I'll be back."
I gave Braden back to Blake and got my keys off the counter, but Braden started crying before I even got out the kitchen.
"You wanna come with me?" I asked him.
He nodded, and he stopped crying the minute he got out of Blake's arm and into mine.
"You are such a Mama's Boy," Blake teased him.
"Unh unh. Don't be teasin' my baby like that," I said, slapping him in the chest.
He rolled his eyes and shook his head at me for the second time today. "See, you encourage it."
"Whatever," I sang, "I gotta go."
He gave me a kiss, but Braden put his hand on Blake's chest in an attempt to push him away from me.
Blake looked at him with an eyebrow raised while I laughed at the two of them.
"Don't tell me I can't kiss my wife, boy," he said, making Braden giggle.
"Alright, that's enough."
Blake and Braden stopped going back & forth, and we were finally able to leave.
After I got the boys from school, I got the kids something from McDonald's, then went home. We went in the living room, and Blake & Brielle were watching Frozen for the fifth damn time this week.
Blake paused the movie, and Brielle almost had a hissy fit until she saw the boys. She jumped off the couch to hug them, then she, surprisingly, sat next to me.
"Thank you, babe," she said when I handed her the McDonald's bag.
I looked at her with an eyebrow raised, and everyone else laughed at her. Why can't she just call me "Mommy" like a normal child?
"You're welcome, child."
She grinned, showing off all her teeth, then moved to Blake's lap.
"Monique called me earlier and said they're not coming again because Damien is sick," I said to Blake.
"Is he gonna be all right?"
"Yeah, it's just a cold."
I love Monique & DJ as parents, and I'm so glad they're about to have another baby.
"Daddy, do you love Mommy?" Brielle asked out of nowhere.
Blake & I looked at each other, then back at Brielle. She asks a lot of random questions.
"Yes. I love your Mommy a lot," Blake answered. "Do you love your Mommy?"
"Yes!" she yelled, jumping in my lap. "I love my Mommy."
I laughed at her dramatic ass and kissed her forehead. "I love you too."
Blake put his arm around me, I laid my head on his shoulder, and we watched Ford & KJ play with Braden. While watching them, I thought about how perfect everything has been lately.
We no longer have to worry about all the drama starters in our lives because they're all where they belong.
Troy is back in jail for attempted murder because he shot two girls he thought were Monique & I. Alana's in jail for God knows what, Chantel took her stank ass back to Miami, and Curtis...Curtis has been in a coma for the last couple of months. He attacked me one night when I was home alone and when Uncle Omar found out, he nearly beat him to death. With these four out of the way, life has been almost perfect.
Blake & I are in a much better place than we were last year. This time last year, we were both contemplating getting a divorce, but we were able to talk to each other, and we got through it.
As I looked around the room at my little family, I thought about how much I've changed. I never wanted to get married or have children. I also said I would never date someone light skinned, someone with a child or an athlete, but look at me now. I'm married to a light skinned athlete, with a child, and we have two kids. And the crazy thing is, I love my life the way it is.
Honestly, if I weren't such a handful when I was younger, I wouldn't have the life that I love so much. And if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change anything.
And just like that, Bri & Blake's story has come to an end.
Y'all...I'm actually sad this story is over 😭😫 I never intended for it to be 100+ chapters, but it just kinda happened.
But thank you for all your reads, votes & hilarious comments. I hope y'all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. ❤️
