"Oh my darling! Where are you?" I heard from the front door of our apartment.
"I'm in the kitchen, my love!" I yelled back, chuckling at the romantic names we were using. Suddenly, my husband slides into the kitchen on our wood floor, having taken off his shoes.
"Well hello there, pretty lady. I got you a present." He wrapped his arms around me from behind as I sat on the barstool doing tax returns.
"Is it someone to finish all of these papers for me?" I joked.
"Sadly, it is not. Although what I do have is probably 100 times better." He wiggled his eyebrows comically.
"And what might this amazing present be?"
"Well I can't just give it to you. You have to earn it."
"That ruins the point of it being a present if I have to work for it." I pouted dramatically.
"I guess I won't make you work for it then. You just have to give me a really nice 'welcome home' hug." He stood up straight and held his arms out wide. I rolled my eyes but happily stood up and gave him a hug, laying my head against his chest.
"Do you want your present now?" He kissed the top of my head.
"Not yet. I just want to hug you a little bit longer." I squeezed my arms around him a little bit tighter.
"I love you Madison Ashton."
"And I love you Jay Ashton."
I leaned back slightly and gave him a peck on the lips.
"I'm ready for my present now." I said.
"Follow me and I'll give it to you." He led me to our living room and I saw two bright blue gift bags with white tissue paper coming out of the top.
"Aw! You wrapped them and everything! Is one mine and one yours?"
"How do you know me so well?" He joked. "Here. This one is yours. You open it first." He pushed one of the bags towards me.
I smiled at him and kissed his cheek before pulling the tissue paper out of the sack. I looked down and saw that there was a large fluffy thing folded up in the bottom of the bag. I pulled it out and unfolded it seeing that it was footie pajamas designed to look like Minnie Mouse.
"Oh my gosh these are so cute! Did you get Mickey Mouse ones?" I said excitedly.
"I don't know. We'll have to see, won't we?" He teased. He opened his bag extremely slow just to annoy me but finally pulled out a larger pair of footie pajamas with a Mickey Mouse design on them.
"We're going to be the cutest couple ever!" I hugged him and ran to put on my pajamas. A few minutes later I exited our room and saw he had just changed in the living room. My eyes warily went to his clothes laying on the floor in a large pile.
"Don't worry. I'll clean them up after we take a cute picture." He assured me. We went over to our tripod that was set up in front of a white wall in our apartment and set the timer. After a few ridiculous poses, Jay dipped me and gave me a kiss on the lips.
After we stood up we went and looked at the camera and all the pictures we had taken. We laughed at some and deleted others but got to the last one of us kissing. I leaned into him and smiled in content.
"You're the cutest husband ever." I kissed his cheek.
"And you're the cutest wife ever."
