I smiled as I walked down the busy streets of London,
last night went perfectly
boots clicking on the cobblestone roads, I hummed softly to my self as I turned down a street that would lead me to a market. After buying several fruits and vegetables I started to make my way back to my comfortable little home. Looking down at my feet, I started to skip down the slowly emptying streets that would lead to my house, I cheerfully sang a song I had heard in one of my most recent dreams.
Hello Misunfortunate it seems you've lost it all, you've got the best disguise the world has ever known.
Darling wipe those tears away.
Then let the liquor course through those veins.
I had no idea what the song meant, but I liked it.
Suddenly two black clad shoes appeared into my line of vision. Seeing the feet too late, I crashed into the unknown person. I looked up, scowling slightly and hissed, "watch we're you're going mate!"Spending most of my life on the streets, until my boss found me had taught me never to sound weak, or show vulnerability. Said man delicately raised an eyebrow and said,
"I do apologise, but I believe you should watch we're you're walking."
A boy, about the age of 12-13 huffed impatiently from behind him.
"Hurry up Sebastian, I want to get back to the manor." The man turned back to whom I presumed was his master and bowed "Yes my Lord."
Handing me the basket of food I hadn't even realised I had dropped, he strode over to the boy, picked him up, and walked out of the alleyway. "Strange," I muttered "that boy looked like a noble, but what was the likes of him doing here?" I shrugged it off and continued on my way home, but little did I know, the boy and his butler were still watching me, from a distance.I stepped into my small house to find a letter on my desk, it said 'another job tonight, this time the Count Drew Barrymore, quite short, with dirty blonde hair, black eyes and will most likely be the only person wearing a suit. Hes been raising money for orphans, but, he actually just spends it on himself. He will be at the pub "Lady Luck" meet him outside, you know what to do then." I sighed
another job so soon? Really, Jason is gonna work me to death, oh well, better get ready, its almost 7...
I walked into my bedroom and pulled out my outfit and the weapons I would need. A knee length, black dress with a low neck line, and several ruffles at the bottom, my ankle length boots, and my two twin blades that I strapped to each thigh. "Perfect" I muttered. Checking everything was in place, I left my hair to flow around my face and stood out on my window sill. hauling myself up onto the roof I checked the time on the small pocket watch I took from Earl Munroe. "8 already?!" I cursed, and started jumping from rooftop to rooftop, soaking myself in the cool London air.
Finally I came to a stop on a house, just opposite the pub. I wrinkled my nose in displeasure. While I waited for the Count to come out, I practiced fighting techniques, and difficult manoeuvres. By the time midnight came around, I was puffing slightly and was sweating. I turned my head in the direction of the pub and saw a single man walk out. My eyes narrowed
hmm, Count Barrymore, not much to look at.
I leapt off the roof and landed nimbly like a cat, on my feet. I quickly walked towards the swaying man, and stopped a couple of metres away.
"Count Barrymore?" I questioned. He turned, focusing his bleary eyes on my dark figure. "Yeaaah, thaats me" he slurred "whaats a prettty lady like, youuu doing out?"
I tilted my head and slowly walked towards him, smiling sweetly. His eyes widened as I unstrapped my twin blades. Hair blowing around my face, and dress flowing around my hips and legs, I must've looked like an angel of death. Daggers drawn I whispered "time to die." He tried to run, but before he could move, I threw my first blade, impaling his leg, and as he began to scream, I stepped forwards, and dug my second blade right into his chest. I don't know why, but I felt a little sad, watching this man die, but I quickly shook the feeling off. Taking out a red piece of paper, I tugged a pen from his pocket and wrote
'bad dead man, raising money to steal.
Bad dead man, pretending to give orphans a meal.'
I stuck the note in his top pocket for Scotland yard to find, and giggled, thinking how mad they would be, to know that the killer had gotten away, yet again. Yanking my silver blades out of the Counts chest,
I walked down to the nearest house, and, gripping the gutter, I did a flip, and landed myself up on the roof. Seeing a slight flash of crimson, I turned around, only to be greeted by the grey dullness of the empty London roads. I shook my head.
I always did have unnaturally good eyesight...maybe I was seeing things. Dismissing my thoughts, I ran back along the rooftops, doing somersaults and twists, at the euphoria of another job well done.
