I made sure to grab my phone and I slipped it into my pocket. Then, I also remembered to get my ear buds which I held in my hand. I grabbed my book bag and walked out of my room. I knocked on the door next to mine, which was my younger brother's. I opened it.
"Hey kiddo, ready for the first day?" I asked, trying to sound fully awake.
"Almost, I'll be down soon." He said, still packing his book bag. Jack was 11 years old, almost turning 12, and it was his first day of middle school.
"Okay, call me if you need anything." I smiled, and then closed the door behind me. We both lived with our mom. We didn't see my dad much and we weren't too close. He went away a lot for work anyways.
"Hey, mom." I said, walking into the kitchen, setting my book bag on a chair.
"Hi, sweetheart, you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said, but really, I felt like falling on the floor.
"Is there anything I could get you?" she asked.
Um, maybe a couple concert tickets and some merch. "No, not that I know of." I answered her. Man that came out differently. I walked over to the fridge and then to the pantry. Then, back to the fridge thinking that something would magically appear. Nope, nothing did. So, I went back to the pantry and since I was lazy, I grabbed myself a granola bar. I sat down at the kitchen table.
Jack soon came down and grabbed a box of cereal from the pantry.
"Need help?" I said, getting up and throwing my granola bar wrapper.
"No thanks, I'm fine." He said, opening the fridge, grabbing the milk. Yeah, I was too lazy to do all that. It was 5 minutes until my bus was coming. I kissed and hugged Jack goodbye and told him to have fun. He told me that he'd probably need help with all the homework he's going to get. I told him not to worry and that I'll always help him. I yelled "Love you" to my mom since I didn't know where she was. When I heard a response, that's when I went out the door. It wasn't that cold, and I didn't bring a jacket, so I'm lucky. The bus stop wasn't too far away from my house. I thought the bus will probably come late, so I didn't rush. I pulled out my phone and then tried to find my ear buds in my pocket, but they weren't there. Where the heck are my ear buds?
