Chapter 1

Through the slits of my eyes, I could just make out a bright white light.

"Am I dead?" I asked aloud to myself.

I felt a sudden pinprick of a needle going into my back, just between my shoulder blades. I could feel the strange liquid ooze into my system. Before I could say anything, I fell into my unconscious thoughts, and was knocked out.

I dreamt of looking around my house, seeing my mother, father and sister. I never wanted this to end.

"Mum! Dad! Liz!" I cried, so happy I saw them again, after a very long time.

"Hey Bella!" My mother said to me. Her voice sounded like honey, oozy and pretty.

"How are you darling? It's lovely to see you after such a long time." My father said, his voice husky and deep.

"Hey sis!" My big sister's arms embraced me, and I never wanted this dream to end. Or was it a dream at all?

I woke up again, this time sweating. Then cried for the first time in years.

"Mum! Dad! Liz!" I cried aloud, tears still streaming down my face. "What's wrong with me? Am I delusional now?"

"Nothing's wrong with you." A husky, deep voice in the doorway said calmly. At first I thought it was my father, but his shadow was too tall. "And you're not delusional; but you're also not human anymore." He said sadly, as if he knew how I felt. He turned to leave, and I saw two, pure white feathered wings on his back. "Wait!" I cried. He stopped in his tracks, and spun around to face me again.

I quickly got off the stone cold bed I was laying on, ignoring a huge headache, and ran at him. Well...I tried to. As soon as I stood up, I fell onto the floor. Luckily, it was carpeted, and didn't hurt as much.

"Ouch." I moaned; my pounding headache hurt even more, now that I'd managed to hit it on a floor too. The stranger was there, looking intently at me; as if I were something he'd only dreamed of seeing. He was so close I could kiss him, but my headache started pounding even more.

"Yikes. How heavy did you hit your head?" He asked, jokingly. He was biting his lip nervously, I did the same.

"I have no idea..." My voice trailed off, lost in his intense, emerald green eyes.

"You may want to look in the mirror, and see what we've given you."

"What do you mean?" I asked. He nodded at the mirror, a couple of steps away from the bed I'd been lying on.

"You're the same as me now."

"What do you mean 'I'm like you now'?" I asked, thinking he was delusional.

"Go look in the mirror." He said, his voice a little shaky from being so close to me. He let me go with some hesitation, and I moved toward the mirror, and looked at my reflection. "What did you do to me?!" I demanded of the stranger, who was now in the middle of the room.

"We made you into a faerie; like they made me one"

"Wait. Who are 'they'?" I asked, still looking at myself in the mirror. He changed the subject.
