Alright, here we are 10 years in the future, let's see how it goes!!!
"Alright! Class is over! I hope everyone has an amazing summer!" Chloe said.
Harper and Camila quickly ran to the classroom after school. "Hey mom, let's get outta here!" Camila said as the two girls burst into the room.
"Beca's coming to help me pack up some of the posters. I'm getting all new ones for the fall."
"Oh cool!" Harper said. "Can me and Camila go to the mall?"
"Yeah," Camila said. "We're 13 and 14 mom I think we can go to the mall."
"Or we could just go across the street for ice cream..." Harper said.
Camila smiled. "Mom, money for ice cream?!?"
Chloe handed her some cash. "Here ya go!"
"Thanks Aunt Chloe," Harper said as they walked out of the classroom and went across the street.
After they got their ice cream they sat down at a table. "My mom really spoils me, doesn't she?" Camila said.
"Yeah, she has ever since she met you...oh shit." Harper trailed off.
"Oh...I mean like when you were born." Harper lied.
"What are you keeping from me, Harper?" Camila asked.
"Nothing, just forget about it." Harper said awkwardly.
"I tell you everything. Please tell me. What's going on?"
"Ok, I've only kept one thing from you and it's because your mom told me to."
"What is it? I won't say anything?"
"Ok, well seeing as you won't let this go...ok so umm...god she's gonna kill me...you're adopted."
"What? When? I don't remember."
"You were 3...you couldn't possibly remember."
Camila got up and ran out of the ice cream shop, Harper following her. "Wait, Camila, listen."
"No, just stop."
Camila ran back to her mom's classroom. "Why didn't you tell me I was adopted?" She screamed at her mom.
Chloe flashed an angry glance towards Harper. "I was waiting for you to ask or something..."
Beca tried to quietly slip out of the room. "Well...seems like this is just an issue between you three, so I'm just gonna run to the ladies room...."
"Beca, get your ass back in here, you're just as much a part of this as the rest of us." Chloe said.
Beca walked back into the room and sat down on top of one of the desks. Camila looked up at her mom. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't know, Camila. I guess I just wasn't prepared to tell you." Chloe sighed. "And if Harper hadn't said anything, then we wouldn't deal with this mess."
"Hey don't put Harper in this, she was just being a good friend."
Chloe looked at Harper. "We'll talk later. Camila, I just don't see why you're upset."
"You don't see why I'm upset? You kept this secret from me for 10 years and you don't see why I'm upset? You always told me dad left when I was little, is that true? All of this could be a lie."
"Ok, here's the story. About 12 years ago, I went to a club by myself, which wasn't very smart, and I met a guy. And him and I...we had sex and I was pregnant. I was completely prepared to raise the baby on my own, with Beca's help of course. You know that car accident I told you about when you asked what meds I was taking that time?" Camila nodded. "I didn't really explain the whole thing so here goes, so I was in the car with Emily, she moved in with her boyfriend like 5 years ago, but we didn't see the ice and we slid off the road into a ditch. She had a broken knee but she still managed to get me out of the burning car. I was unconscious and I had a broken arm and leg. I was in a coma for a week and on life support. I also lost the baby. Then there was the amnesia. I remember Beca sobbing when i couldn't remember her. But there was nothing I could do. When I finally remembered everything I had horrible PTSD. I had to see a therapist for 5 years. I'm still on the meds. I adopted you when Beca had Michael. You helped me through everything Camila. You're my saving grace."
"Mom, why didn't you just tell me?" Camila asked with a tear rolling down her face.
"I was scared, scared to face my past and be reminded of the pain I went through. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I guess. Just please be honest with me. I don't want my best friend to have to tell me everything." Camila laughed. "I love you Harper, but my mom's gotta tell me this stuff."
Beca laughed. "Ok, we're all good! Yay!" Then she got really quiet and looked up. "I'm not really your aunt, me and Chloe aren't sisters, we're best friends," she said quickly.
"I knew that, I'm not stupid, you look nothing like my mom," Camila said.
Beca laughed. "Aw come on Chlo's practically my sister."
"How long have you two known each other anyway?"
"20 years," Chloe said. "I met this weirdo in college." She tackled Beca in a hug.
Camila smiled. "I'm glad you adopted me, thank you for explaining."
Chloe smiled. "I love you Cami. Alright so we're all packed up. Let's go to the mall."
Camila looked up at her mom. "Can me and Harper please please please walk around by ourselves."
"I don't know..." Beca trailed off.
"Please mom? We're old enough. Michael is at his first sleepover, shouldn't you be more worried about him? I'm fourteen, I'm perfectly capable of walking around the mall by myself." Harper begged.
"Well what about Cami? She's a year younger than you. Chloe has to agree..." Beca said.
Chloe sat up in her seat. "I don't know....I feel like they're too young...."
"Please mom?" Camila begged. "I promise we'll stick together."
Chloe gave her a nervous smile. "Alright. As long as you text us."
"Really?!?" Harper said. "Wow Cami I didn't think they we're going to say yes!"
"I know right! Who are you guys and what have you done with mom and aunt Beca?" Camila laughed.
Beca laughed. "Trust me, we trust you guys, I mean we're still going to come along, because I need a new swimsuit."
Chloe laughed. "Who says I'm coming?"
"Aw Chlobird, I know you would never leave me," Beca said with a smile.
"I need a new swimsuit too," Chloe said.
Harper looked at her mom. "How much money do we get?"
"Well seeing as Chlo bought you ice cream every day for the past month, $40 each. I owe her."
"Bec, you don't have to do that..." Chloe said.
"No, you buy me and her stuff all the time, it's fine Chlo," Beca said with a reassuring smile.
"Thanks so much Aunt Beca!" Camila said.
Harper rolled her eyes. "Let's go already. Schools out for the summer and we're still sitting here."
"Alright! Let's go!" Chloe said excitedly.
