I hopped in my car. I saw Justin, Za, and Sammie standing at the door. I sped off. All this drama needs to stop. All of this is revolving around me. I have to be the one to fix it.
My phone rung. It was Justin. I flipped it over and continued on my quest. I seen some familiar signs. I knew I was almost there. The anticipation was getting the best of me.
I pushed down on the accelerator. I soon seen the truck I was looking for, at my old apartment building. I took a deep breath and calmly parked my car. I got out the jogged up the stairs to my old residence.
I knocked and waited and waited and waited. Then, the door opened.
"Marissa?" April looked shocked.
"Hi." I scratched the back of my head.
"April, who's at the door?!" I heard Orlando's voice.
"Can I come in?"
"Um, yes. Sure?" April moved to the side.
"What you want?" Orlando spat.
"We need to talk." I said.
"You know wh- ... about what happened today." I rephrased.
"You sent your boyfriend to fight me."
"I didn't! I did everything I could to stop him!" I clarified as I noticed wounds under his eye. I looked down at my hands. "I didn't even want him to find out about today, but he did and was irate. I couldn't stop him." I said.
"I was just trying to apologize and you smacked me in the face with keys!"
"Orlando, you grabbed me. I was defending myself. I didn't know what you were going to do next." I glanced at April.
"I have a few next moves." He said. I sighed.
"You're pressing charges aren't you?"
"I'm no snitch." He glared at me. A sigh of relief left my lips.
"Can we just forget about all of this? You leave me alone and act like me and Justin don't exist. Please, that's all I want." I proposed.
"Sounds good to me, because every time I come around you, fist are thrown at me." He chuckled.
"Truce." I said.
"Yes." He agreed.
"Thank God." I smiled.
"Okay well, thanks for coming by Ri. It was nice seeing you, but I have an early day tomorrow."
"No hard feelings right?" I asked.
"Shouldn't I be saying that?" April looked confused.
"I'm trying to be the bigger person since my boyfriend attacked yours. I walked towards the door.
"Okaaaay..." April went on.
"Alright... Um... Bye." I left the apartment. I was searching for my car keys when I heard,
"I'm going to take matters into my own hands." I leaned against the door so I could hear whose voice it was, but it was unclear and they stopped talking.
I looked around my surroundings and skipped down the steps.
"What the hell..." I mumbled while getting into my car.
I arrived back to Justin's a little before midnight. I walked in and nobody was to be found. I moseyed across the living room. I heard someone in the theater. I found Sammie asleep and Za was watching a movie. I went in and sat next to him.
"What are you watching?"
"Space Jam, where were you?"
"Ri, what the hell?!" He snapped. Sammie stirred in her sleep. "What the hell?!" He whispered.
"I need this to stop. I took care of it. We don't have to worry about him any more. We called a truce."
"Do you really think he'll leave you alone?"
"I'm hoping these next few days are peaceful. That's all I can do, Za." I whispered.
Za licked his lips and leaned back in his seat.
"We don't trust the nigga and neither should you."
"Then what are you doing going over there?"
"Wanted to make sure he wasn't pressing charges and he said he isn't."
"You went over there alone, not a good move. Now, go tell Justin." Za shook his head as he pointed to the door.
"No, I'm not ready to get yelled at." I looked at the TV screen. My phone rang. I looked at it.
"Welp, time to talk to him." Za leaned over. I hesitated.
"Here goes nothing." I answered the phone and walked out of the room.
