Your head smacks painfully against the wall, the man responsible going down a second later as a gun shot rings out.
"(Y/n), are you alright?" Bucky's worried face finds itself in your blurring line of vision, and you nod drowsily.
"Yeah, I just uh, I kinda.. my head hurts," You groan, a dull pounding beginning at the back of your skull and spreads to the back of your eyes.
Bucky frowns, pushing back the hair from your face. "You have a concussion. We have to get out of here, okay? Can you walk?"
You nod again, taking a step forward and your world immediately spins. Luckily, Bucky catches you and doesn't waist a second as he scoops you close to his chest.
"Okay. No problem," he says, stepping over the mans corpse and slips into a dark hallway. "Now if I could find the exit, that'd be great,"
A few minutes later, Bucky's able to locate a way out, but it's one that would require leaping from a ten meter edge. And swimming. And you're not really in the best condition for anything, really, so his hands are kinda tied.
"I'll be fine," You say, slipping out of his arms and stand shakily. "We can do this,"
He sighs, looks over the ledge and almost grimaces at the water below. The building you're in is on top of a river that leads to a lake, but along the way, a massive water fall has drowned many people who have attempted to swim away from the HYDRA base.
"We have to get to the shoreline before we hit the waterfall," He says, gripping your hand tightly. "Promise me you won't die,"
You grin. "It takes more than a little water to kill me, Buck,"
He swallows hard and walks to the ledge, but takes a step back and tugs on your arm. "Wait. We can't-"
"You there!" A voice shouts from behind, and you and Bucky freeze. "Stop!"
"We have to go," You hiss, and your head throbs and then you loose your footing.
"(Y/n)!" Bucky cries, diving after you as you fall through the air. Your arms flail to try and grab Bucky's hands, but you hit the water before he can reach you.
When he resurfaces, he's gasping and struggling to swim to the shore. He shouts your name, scouring the ragging waters for any indication of you.
But when he reaches shore, dragging his exhausted body onto the sand, you're nowhere to be found. Bucky resists the urge to panic as he breaths hard, using his metal arm to push himself up to his feet. He staggers backwards, feet hitting a branch and he goes crashing into the sand again.
"Bucky!"
His head whips around, eyes wide as he sees you stumbling towards him. You look tired and on the verge of passing out, and there's a small cut on your cheek, but Bucky thinks you look beautiful as he races towards you.
"(Y/n)," he whispers, embracing you tightly. "I thought that you.. well, that you died,"
You hum, eyes shutting as you lean into him. "I told you, it takes more than a little water to kill me,"
