I turn to look at them, their excited eyes are glued on me.
"Oh my gosh Scar, you're so into him, aren't you?"
A deep red blush colors my cheeks in a matter of seconds. I transform from the cool and calm version of me, to a nervous and stuttering mess. "W—no—I—"
Sandra and Kayla dissolve in a bout of laughter, making me feel more and more embarrassed.
Crap, they just found out about my crush on Aiden. They're not going to let me hear the end of it. Oh God, why?!
"Aww look how she's blushing! Just mentioning the fact that she has a crush n William is enough to get her like this," Kayla chuckles.
"It's not like that—wait, what?"
"She has it so bad for William. Too bad he's with that bitch what's-her-name?"
"Angelina," Sharon pipes in.
Oh, so they thought I was talking about William. Thank god.
I smile weakly. "Yeah, I like him so much. I just wish they'd break up," I lie, inwardly sighing that my secret is safe.
"You know what? I think you should talk to him," Sandra suggests.
"He has a girlfriend," I mutter.
"So? You can be friends."
"Right!" I say rolling my eyes. I don't want to talk to him. Why should I? I don't like him. The one I like is already friends with me, and look how good that is turning out!
Don't forget that he kissed you.
"He's a Casanova," I say, the excuse sliding off the tip of my tongue.
"True that!" They all nod in agreement. I sigh with relief. At least they've dropped the topic now.
I get up and head to the dispose the lunch tray. As I start throwing away my lunch, Sandra winks at me and then shouts on top of her voice so that every damn person can hear her. "SCARLETT LIKES WILLIAM!!"
I clamp my hand over her mouth, but too late. The deed has already been done. I smack her hard across her back. "Are you fucking kidding me?!"
She simply laughs and I pass her my best death glare. "You're so dead Sandra. I bet the cafeteria would want to know about who you like."
She immediately pales. "Oh no you wouldn't—"
"SANDRA HAS A CRUSH ON ANDREW!"
She immediately clamps her hands over my mouth and pulls me away. But the deed has already been done. A lot of people are looking in our direction, trying to discern where the noise came from. Some look amused, some look bored. It's a good thing I'm not popular and very few people know that my name is Scarlett.
"How about we have a deal? You don't shout out William's name and I won't shout out Andrew's name." Andrew is her ex-boyfriend.
"Okay yes. Just don't take his name—ever. We've had this really serious fight, and he hates me, really. I don't want to get into the details now but just don't."
"I won't if you won't."
"I promise I won't." We shake hands, sealing the deal.
We part ways after this happens. A few minutes later, I find myself in my favorite class—English. It's my favorite for two reasons—
