Nate's pov
I've been best friends with Y/N my whole life. She is such an amazing girl.
She always helps me with my problems and is trustworthy. Every thing you could want in a girl.
I always try dating girls but it never works out. Y/N is always in the back of my mind. I am always thinking about her.
Just recently, about last week, I started seeing her differently. I need to tell her, even if that means ruining our friendship.
It's driving me crazy and I just need to get it off my chest.
Walking up to Y/N's front door, I just stand there, too scared to knock.
It felt like years until I decided to knock. She answered not long after, smiling when she saw it was me.
One of thing things I love about her, always happy to see me.
"Come on in Nate, what's up?"
"Nothing much. Actually, yeah there is something. Can we talk?" My hands are so shaky, I hope she doesn't notice.
"Umm okay, come in here." She says, leading me to the living room couch.
I clear my throat and rub my hands over my jeans, unable to speak.
"Nate you're kind of scaring me. What's wrong?" Y/N asks. I sigh and look up at her, into her eyes.
"What I'm about to tell you will change how you feel about me. But one thing I don't want to happen is you to stop talking to me," I get even more nervous at the thought of her never wanting to talk to me again.
"Nate what in the world is wrong? You're really starting to scare me now. Never even think that I would stop talking to you. Best friends for life remember?"
Here it goes.
"I don't want to be 'best friends for life' anymore Y/N."
She looks at me sadly and what I said starts to sink in.
"Oh no no no!! I didn't mean it like that! I....like you Y/N. As in more than friends."
"You...like me?" She asks like it was an impossible for it to happen.
"Of course I like you. You're everything a guy could want in a girl," I am beyond nervous with what I'm saying to her now. She isn't even giving me any signs of what she is feeling.
Suddenly, she speaks up. "Nate I'm sorry. I'm just shocked. I never knew the guy I like would feel the same."
"You-You like me back?" To be honest, I was shocked. I never thought she would feel the same.
"Yes Nate. I have for a while. I never wanted to tell you because I thought you wouldn't want to talk to me anymore," she paused and then looked at me, "What should we do?" I think for a minute.
"How about we go on a date, see how it goes, and go from there?"
She smiles and says "I would love to go on a date with you."
"Okay. Does this weekend sound good? Like a movie?" "Perfect," Y/N said.
That weekend
Compared to how I felt when I told Y/N how I feel about her, I'm pretty confident tonight.
Knowing she likes me back makes me feel better and I couldn't be happier to be able to take her on a date.
Hopefully I don't do anything to mess it up.
Knocking on her door, she takes a minute to answer and I just can't believe how pretty she looks. Y/N always looks pretty though.
"Hey I know I'm running late. I was taking a nap and overslept," she explained.
"It's fine. To make the movie on time we need to leave in at least 10 minutes though."
"I'll be ready in 5," she said laughing.
The movie went great and I was so happy. "I had a lot of fun. Maybe we could...do this again sometime," Y/N said hesitantly.
I smiled and said "I would love to."
I walked her up to her door and she turned around to hug me and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I can't wait for our next date.
