"Hey Kellin, we have your favorite subject up next." Oli grins cheekily looking at his timetable.
I groan grabbing my back out of my locker.
"Do we have to go? Can't we just skip it?" I whine.
"Kellin Quinn you are not skipping class." Tay scowls.
I sigh and we start walking towards the gym. When we walk in my heart stops. The covers are off of the pools which only means one thing, swimming practice. Coach Dallas is waiting in front of the bleachers as people are piling in and taking their seats. Tay, Oli and I go and sit at the top back corner of the bleaches like usual.
"Today we will begin swimming practice since summer has started." Coach Dallas announces and I swallow hard.
"Everyone is expected to do this." He announces and my heart sinks again. "If you refuse, detentions will be issued."
Tay nudges me in the ribs.
"You going to do it?" She whispers.
I shake my head. I'd rather have detention.
"Okay, everyone in the locker rooms." He says and everyone stands up, everyone except me.
Couch Dallas notices and gives me a disapproving look.
"Bostwick, why aren't you going to get changed?" He asks.
"It's Quinn." I sigh. "And I feel sick."
"Not this again." He sighs. "You feel sick every lesson."
"I have a chronic illness." I lie.
He rolls his eyes.
"Okay, that's a detention. Go run laps on the football field. I trust you to behave." Coach Dallas says.
I nod and get off the bleachers and go out the back door of the gym out to the football field. I groan when I see the football team practicing. Great, now I have to run in front of them. I sigh and sit my bag down next to a tree. I start jogging around the track keeping my head down. It's like a thousand degrees out here and I'm wearing skinny jeans and a baggy hoodie. By my fifth lap I'm sweating like a motherfucker. I want to stop and catch my breath but I decide against it. I really need this exercise. All of a sudden a football flies in front of me and I stop abruptly.
"Oh my god Kellin. I'm so sorry. Did that hit you?" Vic says jogging up to me.
"No, I'm fine." I reply. "You play football?"
"I try. I hate it." He sighs.
"Then why are you on the team?" I ask confused.
"It's a long story. What are you doing out here running laps by yourself?" Vic asks.
"It's a long story." I chuckle and he smiles.
I glance down at his tone arms. He should where a jersey more often. I look back up at his face and he's looking at me confused.
"Aren't you hot?" He says taking me aback.
"W-what?" I stutter flustered.
"It's like a thousand degrees and you're wearing jeans and a hoodie." He says and I mentally face-palm myself.
"Oh. No I'm fine." I say and he looks at me suspiciously.
"So you going to the party Saturday?" Vic asks changing the subject.
"Yeah, I'll be there." I smile.
"Vic stop talking to your boyfriend and get the ball!" Someone yells and Vic blushes before clearing his throat.
