How it used to be

"You know, I wish things were like they used to be. In the old days.." He smiled. "When, the football guys would ask a girl to prom.. An when she said yes, it made him the happiest man on earth. Going on dates to the diner, or to a drive in movie and sitting in the front seat of the car, with your arm around your girls shoulders."

She had her legs to her chest as she looked down at her feet. "Yeah.."

Her gaze went up to him, and his to her. He still had the goofy smile on his face. She couldn't help but smile back.

She sat in thought for a second"How about it then?" Standing up and dusting off her skirt, she then held out her hand. "Let's go."

He looked at her confused at first but played along and reached up for her hand. He stood and dusted off the back of his pants.

"Where to?" He kept his eyes on her, staring at her pretty little smile.

"The movies." She reached down and grabbed his hand.

He smiled and held her hand. "Alright."

They began to walk down the field of grass and proceeded onto the gravel road.

"What do you want to see when we get there?" He looked at their hands and couldn't get the grin off his face.

She shrugged. "We'll both decide when we get there." She looked at him and smiled more, showing her pretty white teeth.
