"So remind me again, why are both your girlfriends M.I.A.?" Tatiana was the first to mention the obvious. It was kinda the elephant in the room, but no one wanted to be the first to say it because Marley looked sleepless and sad. And I had yet another hickey, but mostly Marley.

"We had a small fight." Marley shrugged, trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Robyn and Cael frowned. We all knew we wanted to know what the fight was about and thus determine how to fix it, but Marley rarely got into fights with people she cared about. The fact that she and Micha were having a big enough dispute for Marley to come to school alone was definitely not taken lightly.

"Oh... What about you, Ace?" Tatiana tried to divert the attention of the group.

"Uh- I don't know. She said she'd be here. Maybe it's some weird field trip or something her freaky night school sent her on." I muttered.

"And your hickey?" Ana smirked.

"We didn't have sex, oh my God, you people! You're as bad as my parents!" I groaned.

"Wait, did you officially introduce Hazel to your parents?! How'd it go?!" Robyn squealed.

"Didn't I tell you people that Hazel was staying for dinner? Whatever, it went well." I shrugged.

"How well?" Cael smirked, staring at my hickey.

"We. Did. Not. Have. Sex!" I groaned again.

"Grace, quick talk." Marley abruptly asserted, walking to an empty art room.

"I'll go deal. If Hazel shows up, tell her she's late." I waved to the three. Wow. It felt so empty without Micha.

"We don't have a death wish!" Robyn snickered.

I'd've bit back but Marley pulled me into the art room and shut the door.

"How long have you been aware that Hazel is your soulmate?" Oh no. That's what Marley had fought about.

"Um... Almost as long as I've known her..." I wilted to try and become smaller. Marley was not too happy at the news.

"What? And not once did you ever tell me?" Her voice cracked and her eyes watered. I wanted to hug her so badly. She was hurting. And that hurt me.

"Micha wanted to tell you herself. I tried to talk her into telling you earlier... Mar, I'm so sorry..."

"And did you know that I'm not her soulmate?" She was dangerously stuck between anger and sadness. When I said nothing she glared at me with utter betrayal. "So you knew all this time that Micha was bound to find someone else and leave me. Is there anything else I'm not aware of?" She sat at one of the tables.

"Trust me, it won't be like that." I blurted. Shit. Hazel is going to have my head for that.

"Oh?" She laughed dryly.

"I should really shut up before I give Hazel any more reason to kill me." I just kept blurting stuff out.

"I'm sure-" Marley was cut off by a knock on the door. "Who is it?" She sighed.

"Hazel." Said voice replied.

"Come in." "We're busy." I said at the same time as Marley. The latter sent me a look. And I accepted that either my best friend or girlfriend would kill me at the end of this conversation.

"What happened?" Hazel frowned, looking from me to Marley while closing the door behind her.

"Micha told her about the whole deal with soulmates." I muttered. Hazel sighed, quickly giving my friend a once-over, her discontent expression becoming even less happy by the second until she spoke.
