B.I (Kim Han Bin) made appearance as featuring artist together with MC Mong, "Indian Boy". He also performed at SBS Gayo Daejun 2009 and guest at KBS Yoo Hee yeol's sketchbook along with MC Mong.
Koo Junhoe made appearance as little Michael Jackson at SBS Star King. He also competed in Kpop Star in 2011
In 2013, CEO Yang Hyun Suk announced a survival show called WIN: Who is Next, where two teams (Team A and Team B) competed with each other in order to debut as WINNER. Six of seven iKON members were part of Team B.
In June 2014, CEO Yang Hyun Suk announced another survival show, MIX & MATCH, where six trainees, led by B.I, Bobby, and Jinhwan, competed with each other to debut as iKON. During the press conference, CEO Yang made a statement that B.I, Bobby, and Jinhwan were already fixed members. The six trainees that competed for a spot in iKON were : Song Yunhyeong, Kim Donghyuk, Koo Junhoe, Jung Chanwoo, Jung Jinhyeong and Yang Hongseok.
During the 9 episodes of MIX & MATCH, fans had another chance to see Team B members, meet the three new trainees and see their talent. Once again, fans had to decide who will get to debut. Fans' votes and judges' vote were combined and the 4 confirmed members were announced in the final and iKON's final line-up was set.
