"You're leaving Hogwarts?!"
Harry's words, although quietly said, broke my heart. The way his voice sounded...why was I doing this? "I can't deal with this anymore, Harry. Not with this conspiracy!"
"What are you going to do? Just sit at home?"
"Of course not! I'll research on how to take down Dumbledore, Ron, and Ginny. There must be something that will stop them!"
Harry smirked, leaning his head against my chest. "Aside from faking my death, I don't see how that's possible. Unless Draco can whip up some magical death potion like Romeo and Juliet." I smiled slightly as he started tracing my hand.
"Maybe we could. I don't know. I'm trying. You need to get better though, Harry. When you do..." I paused, "Find me. We can go somewhere where Dumbledore won't find us. Away from this world."
Harry smiled and closed his eyes. "That sounds nice, Mione." His hand drifted to my stomach. "Start a life together or something. That can be our light at the end of the tunnel. Something worth fighting for."
I blushed. Yeah. That's definitely something worth fighting for.
The day after Hermione fled from Hogwarts, I was released from Madam Pomfrey's clutches. She was a wonderful woman, but sometimes she can be overbearing.
I turned at Ginny's voice and forced a smile. "Hey, Ginny. How are you?" A shudder went down my spine as she practically stripped me with her eyes.
"Fine...just wondering if you had a date for the dance." Oh god...the Yule Ball. Shit.
"Oh...no, er, not yet...but I'm asking someone soon." Great excuse. Wonderful.
"Oh..." Ginny's voice turned sour, "Who?"
"Harry!" Draco, please help me. "So guess who doesn't have a date yet."
I grinned, forgetting about the monstrosity before me. This snake wasn't so bad, now that I got to know him. "You? I thought you were asking that Ravenclaw out?"
"Nope. She's not my type." He grinned and wrapped his arms around my waist. "You know who is?" Oh no. I knew what he was thinking. He wouldn't dare.
"Who?" I tried to look as natural as possible but my mind was racing. Hermione would never let me forget this if Draco does what I think he's going to do. She'll find it hilarious.
"You are, love. Who else did you expect? Come to the Yule ball with me?"
That little shit...Oh well. Survival of the fittest. "I'd love to, hon." I tried not to shudder as I stroked his cheek. Pretend he's Hermione.
"Great!" He smiled, then looked over at Ginny and smiled. "Need something, Weasley?" Ginny looked mortified, and it honestly satisfied me.
"No...nothing..." She whispered, and then walked off.
"Was that the 'insurance' Hermione told me about?" I raised an eyebrow at Draco when Ginny was long gone.
"Yep. And that's how it's going to be until she figures something out." He laughed.
"You're enjoying this."
"It's very amusing, yes."
