It had been a week since I last saw Josh and I'm glad I hadn't seen him after that- thankfully.
Del and Jamie were still confused as to who that 'man who claimed to be their father' was. I had nothing to say to them because they were too young to understand anything.
Today is Five Seconds Of Summer's Rock Out With Your Socks Out tour ending party. Luke invited me but I refused to leave the kids without their mother because I knew they'd make a huge fuss about the slightest thing.
"Oh, come on!" Luke pleaded. "You have to come to the party. Let loose!" he flailed his arms about in the air. "Do it for you friend Lucas?" he made puppy eyes and pouted his lips.
I stifled a laugh. "Did you just call yourself 'Lucas'?" I finally let out a laugh causing Luke to smirk.
"Ha! I made you laugh which means that you have to come to the party," he crossed his arms over his chest and displayed a smug smile.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "How does making me smile have anything to do with going to the party?" I asked, raising my eyebrows- expecting an answer.
"I don't know," he mumbled. "But you're coming with me," he grabbed my wrist and pulled me up the stairs and lead me to my bedroom. He gripped my shoulders, gently, and sat me on the foot of the bed. "There," he huffed as if he were tired from walking up the stairs. "I'm going to get out a selection of clothes from your wardrobe and you will have to choose one of them for the party." he instructed with a colonel voice.
"Yes, sir," I saluted him, causing the two of us to burst out into a fit of giggles.
"Luke," I whined. "What about Del and Jamie? You're definitely not leaving them home alone, right?" I looked at him anxiously. "Pfft. No," he shrugged. I continued intensely staring at him since I knew he was lying. He finally let out a sigh of defeat and slumped back into the leather sofa. "Fine, I don't know what to do with the kids,"
I rolled my eyes at his stupidness and grabbed my phone of the kitchen counter and began tapping endlessly on the screen. "What are you doing?" Luke asked, furrowing his eyebrows. I ignored him and continued tapping the screen. I pressed my phone to my ear expecting someone to pick it up. "Hi, is this Cecilia?" I asked the woman on the phone. The woman told me to wait for a while. In that small amount of time, I turned my gaze to find Luke staring at me with 'confused' written on his forehead- metaphorically. After a while, I managed to talk to the kids' babysitter, Cecilia. "Hi, um. I'm Tessa Smith. I was wondering whether you could babysit my twins. Yeah, that'd be great. Thank you," with that I ended the call and proudly placed my phone back onto the kitchen counter.
"Don't put on that 'I'm so clever' face," Luke huffed, not keeping eye contact with me but I could still see the slight smirk on his face.
"Why? Does little Lucas feel dumb?" I asked, mimicking the voice of a two year old, causing Luke to mutter something under his breath before going to his room- I did the same.
I decided to wear a red checked 2 in 1 dress skirt with my black Chuck Taylors. It wasn't too much or too less- you would say the 'casual party wear'. I applied a thin layer of foundation as well as some mascara.
As soon as I entered the living room, I find Luke wearing his everyday black skinny jeans, with rips at each knee, and a Nirvana t-shirt. That's when I became conscious about what I was wearing. This wasn't everyday wear; this was more chill-out-at-a-party wear. I quietly turned around and began walking up the stairs to change into clothes that I'd fit in with. But before I could reach even half way up the stairs, Luke's voice sounded. "Where are you going?" I turned around to find Luke standing at the bottom of the stairs staring at me with wide eyes.
