“Come on Bella, lets go see who that unlucky owner of yours is.” I slung my bag over my shoulder, Bella still had my book in her mouth and together we walked down to the skate park and began searching.
I was officially starting to worry.
Thirteen minutes has past. THIRTEEN MINUTES AND NO SIGN OF MY BABY.
I passed the same kids I had met earlier this morning and thought of asking them if they knew anything.
“C’mon boy, where are you?” I muttered. Just before I decided to give up and call my mum, Bella suddenly started going spastic.
“What the hell is your owner feeding you?!” I cried out as she began running through the crowd with me holding onto the leash. She was going crazy – jumping on people, pushing them aside and barking with excitement. She was taking hyper to a whole new level.
My legs were getting tired of running; God knows what type of drugs this dog’s on. Why can’t all dogs be sweet and normal like Oscar? See; look at him wagging his tail next to Reece.
There he was, with a leash attached to his collar and held onto by Reece Carter.
But that could only mean that…
If Bella was excited before, she just about acted like she could shit rainbows.
I noted that Bella’s sudden movement startled Oscar, he began to run towards me, thus, dragging Reece along.
Both Recce and I kept screaming out for our dogs to behave – it was as useless as a white crayon. We had managed to gather a whole crowd around us; it was obvious what was going to happen next.
First, our bodies were stuck to each other; next our dogs ran after each other in circles around our legs, tanging us with both their leashes.
Finally, we both lost our balance and fell in the pond.
I am never, ever taking Oscar out for a walk again.
“Jesus! I could have been killed!”
“Yeah well, if your dog would calm the hell down none of this would have happened.” I snapped as I pulled out some duck feathers from my hair. My blush of embarrassment still hadn’t gone away and Reece looked like he couldn’t care less about what just happened in public.
“Yeah okay, blame it on the dog Chloe, real smooth.”
“I’m not blaming it on the dog, I’m blaming you! What are you feeding the poor animal? Ecstasy? Marijuana? Cocaine? Amphetamines?”
He sighed. “I don’t know what your problem is, but I bet it’s hard to pronounce.”
“For a guy like you, I bet it is.”
He smirked – showing off his perfect teeth whilst doing so. Reece got up and brushed off the dirt on his shirt. He ran his fingers through his dark brown hair and chuckled.
“Go ahead, try to offend me. Do your worst.”
“Come on, do it.” he challenged.
“See,” he declared proudly, “You fail.”
“Hmm, just like your mother’s birth control.”
Reece tried his best to keep a straight face, “Oh now you took it too far. I’m not talking to you anymore, C’mon Bella lets go home.”
I grabbed Oscar’s leash and ran after him, “Oh C’mon Reece, I was just kidding!”
“Whatever, I don’t know who your boyfriend is; but he’s not spanking you enough.”
I rolled my eyes and changed the subject, “You owe me a new book.”
I gestured towards the slobbered pieces of paper Bella was chewing on.
Reece laughed, “Sucks to be you.”
“Jerk.” I muttered.
He shrugged, “Meh, I’ve been called worse.”
We argued all the way home – one insult after the other.
I’ll never admit it out loud, but it was kind of fun.
When I got to my room, I practically collapsed onto my bed.
I think I should do what Charlie does and go to the gym. There aren’t any ponds to fall into, no public humiliation… most importantly; no Bella.
“Yo, Chloe, whatcha doing? Daydreaming about me?”
I sat up and gazed out of my window. Reece was casually sitting on the windowsill of his room.
Which is what, an arm’s length away from mine?
“Cocky much?” I smiled as I too, sat on my windowsill.
“Very much.” he commented as he threw an object towards me.
I think I must have thanked the Lord a thousand times because I managed to catch it.
It was a brand new, untouched copy of Pride & Prejudice.
He did one of those cute boy-ish half smiles, “It’s not like I used it when we had to study it last year.”
Naw, he can be such a sweet badass sometimes.
“Yeah, okay, don’t get any ideas though.” he winked.
“Ideas? Pffftt…what ideas?”
"Yeah right, you're totally going to write about me in your diary tonight. It's going to be all like..."
Suddenly, he changed his voice into an over-exaggerated girly one…
I MET THIS TOTALLY CUTE GUY NAMED REECE LAST WEEK, HE'S REALLY COOL AND SMART AND FUNNY, AND I HOPE HE LIKES ME BECAUSE I TOTALLY LIKE HIM!
BUT I CAN'T TELL ANYONE BECAUSE BOYS HAVE COOTIES!
HEART SMILEY FACE EX OH EX OH,
I laughed, “Hmm, magic 8 ball says ‘don’t count on it’ try again later!”
I couldn't stop smiling as I pulled down the window and made myself a nice, warm, candle-lighted, well-deserved strawberry bubble bath – with yellow rubber duckies, not white fluffy ones.
Guess who’s back, back again,
Hasti’s back, tell a friend !
I hope this chapter made you all laugh! :D
