When I got up this morning, I made sure not to make too much noise so I wouldn't wake Briana. After I got ready, I helped the boys get ready, then checked on Brielle. She was still sleeping so I went in the bedroom to see if Bri was still asleep and luckily, she was.

I got a piece of paper, wrote her a note and left it on the nightstand.

"I love you," I whispered to her.

A small smile spread across her face as she slept, so I kissed her forehead, and the boys & I left.

"Uncle Blake, where are we going?" KJ asked.

"We have a lot of things to do before tonight."

"Oh."

After tonight, I won't have to lie to Briana or sneak around anymore.

I woke up this morning well-rested and in a really good mood for some unknown reason.

On the nightstand, there was a propped up piece of paper, and my name was written on it in Blake's handwriting. I picked it up and unfolded it to read the note.

Babe,

Sorry I wasn't there when you woke up, but I had some things to take care of. I took the boys with me because I didn't want them to wake you up.

Now that you're awake, don't try to go back to sleep. Monique's coming over to take you and Little Bri out for breakfast. I love you, and I'll see you later.

-Blake

I set the note back down and got out of bed to check on Brielle. She was still sleeping, so I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower, then got dressed. I gave Brielle a bath and put her clothes on her, then we went downstairs.

"Bri," Monique sang, walking in the house, "are y'all ready?"

She walked into the living room and smiled at her giggling goddaughter.

"Yeah. I just have to get my purse."

"You don't need it," she said, grabbing Brielle's bag, "let's go!"

She grabbed my hand and quickly led me out of the house. Just like Blake, everyone around me has been acting so strange lately. I feel like they all know something, but they're just not telling me.

The whole time we've been out, Monique kept staring at her phone. I asked her if everything was alright, but she just brushed it off and told me everything was fine.

After breakfast, we went to the mall, but I don't know why; I had no money, and Monique didn't even buy anything. We then ran some errands and now, we're just aimlessly driving around.

"Monique, can we please go back to the house now?"

"No!" she said a little too quickly for my liking, "I mean, not yet."

I looked at her skeptically, but I didn't say anything. We drove around for twenty more minutes until her phone chimed. She smiled and within ten minutes, we were back at the house.

"This was fun, but I gotta go," Monique spoke hurriedly, "I'll see y'all later. Bye!"

Before I could even open my mouth to speak, she was already gone. I shrugged off my best friend's strange behavior and went in the living room with Brielle, and that's when Blake called.

'Where are you?'

Blake: Me & DJ took the boys out. Did you have fun with Monique?

'Yeah, but she was acting really weird. Anyway, what time are you coming home?'

Blake: Aww. Do you miss me?

'Yes!'

I pouted, and he chuckled like he could see me.

Blake: I'll be home soon but until then, go to the front door. Someone should be there in the next three seconds.

I knitted my eyebrows together because just like he said, the doorbell rang three seconds later. I opened the door, and I was confused to see Lisa & Ashaunte.

Blake: Is it Lisa & Ashaunte?

'...Yeah.'

Blake: Good. I'll see you soon. Love you.

He quickly hung up, and I just stood at the door with a dumbfounded look on my face.

"What are y'all doing here?" I asked my cousin and her mom.

"Hair & makeup," Lisa smiled, setting her stuff up in the living room.

"Hair & makeup for what?" I asked.

"Well, somebody wanted his wife to look prettier than usual," Ashaunte said, taking Brielle.

I wanted to ask them what the hell was going on, but I knew they wouldn't tell me. Everyone, including the kids, is in on this little plan with Blake, and I hate it because I hate being clueless.

After picking up the kids' clothes from the tailor, we stopped by the house for a minute, then met Jade at the venue for the party tonight.

While the boys finished their surprises for Bri, Jade & I went over some last minute details. I looked around the room and as nice as it was, everything was wrong.

"And this is where you'll be sitting," Jade said, showing me the table.

"Jade, I don't wanna be an asshole because it does look nice, but what's with the tables and flowers?"

"You said you wanted y'all's table to be white and the other tables to be purple. And you said you wanted peonies on all the tables," she said with her eyebrows furrowed.

I tried to keep my composure, but I knew exactly what she was doing. When I told her what colors and flowers I wanted, she made sure to tell me her favorite colors were purple & white, and that her favorite flowers are peonies.

"No, I didn't. The family's table was supposed to be black, and the other tables were supposed to be red," I said, running a hand down my face, "and these were supposed to be roses, not peonies. Briana hates peonies."

She rolled her eyes and blew out a very sharp breath. I don't know what the hell she's so mad about when she's the one that messed up.

"Well I don't know what you want me to do about it," she said with an attitude, "I won't be able to fix it before tonight."

I sighed, "Don't worry about it then. She has plenty of friends, and I'm sure one of them would be more than happy to help."

The boys and I started to leave the building, but Jade grabbed my arm and stopped me from walking out.

"Blake, wait," she sighed, "I'll fix it."

"No thank you. I want tonight to be perfect for Briana, and I don't need your attitude fucking it up."

I tried to leave again and she held onto my arm, but KJ did not like that too well.

"Can you please stop touching my auntie's husband?" he said to Jade.

She looked down at him and he cut his eye at her, but she did let go of my arm.

"Look, I'm sorry about earlier," she said, "just give me a chance to fix everything. You hired me to make this a special night for your wife, and I want to do that."

Against my better judgement, I agreed to let her fix everything, but only because I'm sure everyone had their own things to do before tonight.

I put the boys' gift to Briana in the car, and we left the venue so I could take them to DJ's house.
