Prom Season

Months passed by in a blur as I sent in college application after college application, registering for financial aid as well as hauling ass to keep my grades up. By the time the rush of it all was done and I was back to my regular routine of just going to school and back home, the new year had come and passed, already landing us in February. But I'm happy to say I got accepted to Northern Arizona University and Pacific University.

In the time that passed, Josh and I had just snapped back to how we were before, talking and laughing as though I never ran away to get away from him. Of course, he still doesn't know...but he doesn't need to know.

But today seemed to be different. As I walked through the crowded hallways, a buzz was circulating through the students. I soon made it to my friends and waved, taking a seat next to Josh. "What's up with everyone today?"

Kat's eyes widened. "You didn't hear? Prom's next week and they just told us the theme today! It's Wonderland!"

I raised an eyebrow at this. "As inAlice in Wonderland, kind?"

She nodded her head. "Yeah. Are you free saturday?" I groaned, already knowing where this was going to lead.

"I hate dress shopping."

She pouted. "It wasn't that bad last year."

I felt my eye twitch. "We spent 8 hours shopping for my dress just for you to decide that thefirst dress I tried on was the one."

She smiled sheepishly at me. "Heh heh ... forgot about that..."

I snickered at her. "But I suppose I'll go on Saturday..." Her face lit up. "But I'm putting a time limit on this thing!" I quickly said. It didn't seemed to faze her happy mood though as she came over to give me a hug. "Thank you thank you thank you!" she sang out. I rolled my eyes. As the warning bell rang, I got up and followed Kat and Bob to Economics.

"Are you guys going together?"

Kat and Bob blushed, although Bob managed to nod his head. I grinned, but before i could begin teasing them, Kat cut in.

"Who are you going with?"

I shrugged. "Dunno. Might go stag this year since no one I would want to go with asked me."

She raised her eyebrow at me before she turned to Bob, whispering something into his ear. He shook his head and her eyes narrowed.

"Fay, go ahead with Bob. I gotta go take care of something real fast." With that being said, she sped off, quickly disappearing around the corner.

I raised my own eyebrow at Bob. "What's she planning?"

He shrugged, continuing on his way to class. I sighed before I followed him.

School passed in a blur and soon, our small group of friends met together in front of the school.

"I gotta go. See you later," I said, checking the time on my phone. I waved bye and headed over to my car. But as I was about to open the car door, someone grabbed my arm. I turned around to face Josh.

"Yeah?" I questioned, leaning against my car. He rubbed the back of his neck, a sheepish grin on his face.

"Um...wannagotopromwithme?" He asked in a breath of air. I scrunched my nose up.

"...what?"

He sighed, dropping his hand to his side. "Do you want to go to prom with me?"

I felt a blush cover my cheeks as I nodded my head.
