I watched as the car that carried Rick, Michonne, and Carl away from the prison. They were heading out to look for supplies in Rick's hometown. One their car was out of sight, I turned away from the gate and walked back to the prison for breakfast. Yawning, I grabbed a bowl of food and made my way to a table. It'd been a long night. I spent half the night unable to sleep and the other half on watch.
I jumped at the sudden voice and turned to see Merle.
I hadn't been paying attention to where I sat and I sat right beside Merle! "Yeah, yeah I am. I didn't sleep at all last night." I stated as I began to eat my breakfast.
"You and my baby brother messin' around all night? Merle asked, chuckling.
My hand, holding the spoon, stopped midway to my mouth and my cheeks instantly began to heat up. Merle thought Daryl and I had been having sex all night?! "N-no!" I stuttered, completely embarrassed by what he was insinuating. "I just wasn't able to fall asleep last night and then I was on watch this morning. That's why I'm tired." I clarified.
"Uh-huh, sure," Merle chuckled, clearly enjoying seeing me so flustered.
"I'm serious! Daryl and I haven't done that!" My cheeks heating up again at my little confession. It's not that I haven't wanted to, but we just haven't. I don't know why I felt the need to tell Merle that.
"Really?" He asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. I could feel him staring at me, but I refused to look at him. "Why?" He questioned.
"We are so not having this conversation!" I exclaimed, starting to eat again. The sooner I could finish my food, the sooner I could get away from Merle and this embarrassing conversation. Merle began laughing as my face only continued to grow redder.
"What's so funny?"
I looked up at the new voice and smiled at my little brother. "Asshole here just digging into my business." Riley chuckled as Merle glared at the nickname I gave him. "So what are you doing?" I asked Riley as I took the last bite of my breakfast.
"I don't know. I was coming to see if you needed any help with anything."
"Well, I'm gonna help go clear out some of the walkers from the yard. You're more than welcome to come with."
Riley smiled and nodded. "Yeah, sure."
"Meet here in thirty minutes then," I said. I watched as Riley nodded once more and ran off to grab his gear.
"Who was that? He wasn't in the group before."
I turned my gaze away from my brother's retreating figure to see Merle staring after him. "That's my younger brother, Riley."
"Should'a guessed. You two look alike."
"So what are your plans for the day?" I asked after a moment of silence passed between us.
"Gonna go search the cells for some drugs. I'm sure there's some in here somewhere." He answered.
I stared in disbelief at the man beside me. He did drugs? And he's more than ok with admitting that to me? He probably thinks Daryl told me all about him, but my knowledge of Merle is very little. Daryl didn't like to talk about him and I wasn't one to push for information. But a drug addict?
"Hell to the mother fucking no! You are not doing drugs on my watch. I ain't gonna have you high off your rocker with walkers that close to our front door. You're coming with me to help clear out the yard." I exclaimed.
