24. Ugh, Rehearsal

I answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey, where'd you go?"

"I'm at a hotel."

"Why?"

"I just need some space."

"Was it the kiss? I'm sor-"

"No, it wasn't that. It's nothing personal. I have to go. I'll see you in a little while."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone. I could tell Justin was hurt. I could hear it in his voice and that's the last thing I wanted to do. I was starting to feel guilty. I played around with my phone for a second. It was 10:33 am.

I debated whether I wanted to go to rehearsal today. They say don't mix pleasure with business. I'm pretty sure this is why. I have to stay professional, no matter what's going on in my life.

I jumped up, grabbed my car keys, and left for the studio. My phone rang again. It was Scott.

"Hey, Scott. How are you?"

"I'm great. Just checking up on you. How are you? I know y'all go on tour in a few days."

"Things are good. I'm heading to rehearsal now."

I started the engine to my car and was on my way.

"I heard what happened with Lando and Justin." Scott admitted. I rolled my eyes.

"Yea."

"Is everything okay now?"

"Well, I'm struggling emotionally, but it's nothing I can't handle." I took my feet off the accelerator when I caught myself speeding.

"You're a warrior, Ri. If you need anything, I'm only a phone call away. Stay strong. Love you."

"Thanks. I love you too Scott. I'll talk to you soon." I tossed my phone into the passenger seat and focused on the road ahead.

I arrived at the studio and seen Justin's car. My heart was throbbing. I had to face him and I was so nervous about it. I know he wants an explanation for my actions.

I casually walked into rehearsal. Everything seemed normal. I didn't see Justin, though. I sat on the floor and began to stretch. I was interrupted when Nick came over.

"Hi Rissa."

"Wassup Nick." I continued to stretch.

"Uh, do you know what's up with Justin?" He looked concern. I looked to my side and back up to Nick.

"Why are you asking me?"

"Because you two seem to be spending a lot of time together."

"Says who?"

"I hear things."

"Nick..."

"I'm just asking. You didn't even say hey to him today and you're stretching alone." He squatted down in front of me.

"I didn't even see him when I came in." I replied.

"He's been here for like 40 minutes. He's over there." Nick tilted his head in one direction.

I looked over and saw Justin sitting on a speaker with his headphones and eyes closed. I looked down at my hands.

"You need to talk to him, please." Nick tapped my shoe.

"Alright." I whispered. Nick stood up.

"Ok troops, lets start." I rose to my feet and walked to the center of the room. I looked to my left and Justin was standing next to me. I shyly looked at him and said,

"Hey."

He faintly smiled and focused back on Nick. I bit the inside of my cheek. I already knew today was going to be awkward.

We were dancing to ALAYLM. Justin and I had a set together. Everyone in the room could sense we were not feeling it today. It's not that I didn't want him touching me, it's just... awkward.

"What's going on you two?" Nick stood in front of us. I could hear Justin sigh loudly behind me. I crossed my arms and held the bridge of my nose.

"Nothing." Justin finally spoke. Nick looked down at me. I threw my arms to my side, looked away from him and replied,

"Nothing."

"Let's start from the top." Nick backed away from us and began instructing again. Justin returned to my side. I glanced at him. He clenched his jaw in annoyance.

All I wanted to do was leave the room. What use would that do? I ran my fingers through my hair and we continued rehearsal.
