the prince gets himself lost in a garden of daisies
pink and yellow blooms to his bloody red ones
the pungent fragrance of differentiation
hangs in the air above his nostrils
he glances around and fails to see
another one that looks just like him

(he suffocates from being out of place)

the prince wanders further into
the undergrowth in search for home
barefooted and thirsty, he went for days
with only the fervor of belongingness
pushing through his entire system
his petals wither from malnutrition
his thorns have turned against him

(the prince makes a trail out of blood)

is home a feeling or a person?
the prince, however, gets no answer
the overhead sun plunders his back
his lips have bled from crying
the prince does not stop
until his body doubles over
with a fever so high he hallucinates
another rose, next to him
telling him about their own garden
