I'm making Tatum's parents Derek and Meredith from Greys Anatomy bc obsessed 😅😅 and I know I made that Greys joke earlier on in the story but ignore that lmao
---------------------------------------------Tatum's POV
"Tatum Margaret Shepherd!" My mothers voice woke me from my sleep, making me jump a bit.
"I'm up!" I rubbed my eyes. When I did I saw why my mother woke me up in the middle of my slumber; Calum was sitting up across from me, looking like he just woke up as well. Shit, I thought. We must've fallen asleep watching the movie.
"Who is this?" My father pointed to Calum.
"Um, this is-" I was about to introduce him but Calum cut me off.
He stood up and held his hand out for my father. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd. I'm Calum Hood. I'm a friend of Tatum's. I'm really sorry we had to meet this way and I'm just sorry about this all in general."
My dad looked him up and down, then shook Cal's hand. "Hmm, nice handshake you've got."
"Thank you, sir. My dad always says that the handshake makes the man."
"Right, I was told that also." My dad gave him a single nod.
Next Calum went to my mother, holding his hand just like he had a few moments ago. "Like I said, I'm really sorry about all this."
She sighed and gave in, shaking his hand. "So, what are you doing here? With my daughter? How do you two know each other? Tatum never talks about any boys besides that little band she likes so much."
Calum chuckled. "Actually, Mrs. Shepherd, I am part of that little band she likes so much."
"You are?" My dad seemed surprised.
"Yes, I play bass and sing."
I watched as a small smile curled across my dad's face. "You know I used to be in a band when I was in high school."
"You were?" Calum asked, looking genuinely interested.
"I was. We weren't any good, though. I was the drummer."
As I watched my dad talk about his old high school band with the boy he had just caught at my house in the middle of the night, it seemed almost as if my father kind of liked him. But my mother, on the other hand, with her arms crossed over her chest, did not seem amused. Although my parents are kind of strict, my dad was always a little easier on me than my mom was. If anything, he was the 'cool' parent. Cooler than my mother at least.
"You know, Calum, my husband might be going easy on you, but I'm not. Are we just going to forget about the fact that you were asleep with my daughter on the couch at 3 in the morning?" My mother glared at my dad for ignoring what they had walked in on. "And can I ask why you, some 'famous' guy, is hanging out with my daughter?" She put air quotes around 'famous'.
I stood up, realizing that I hadn't said anything for a while, that I was just sitting on the couch watching everyone talk. "Mom, Cal and I have been friends for a while now. We started talking on Twitter and became really close. His band is in Minnesota for the weekend, they had a show Thursday. We made a plan to meet up, and we were watching movies and we both fell asleep. Harmless fun is all." I wasn't gonna tell her how we hung out last night either, that would just make it worse.
"You met online?! Tatum, I can honestly say I thought higher of you." My mom shook her head, sighing deeply.
"Meredith," My dad spoke up, but I cut him off.
"You're kidding, right? You thought higher of me than to talk to someone I've been a fan of for three years? I didn't know there was anything wrong with that." I scoffed.
