Hope you like it!*Joy's POV*
*FOUR YEARS AGO*
"I'll miss you. Don't forget me." I whispered, on the verge of breaking into tears."I'll never forget you Joy." Josh replied, holding onto my hand tightly. We rested our foreheads against each other's and looked into each other's eyes. Silent tears had begun falling down my face. I blinked hard to get rid of the tears and see properly.
"I love you Joy." Josh whispered. I smiled and sniffed quietly before replying. "I love you too Josh." He pecked my lips and wiped away my tears. "Time to go." He smiled, handing me my luggage. I nodded and looked down at my hand, intertwining with his.
"Goodbye Josh."
"Goodbye Joy."
We let go of each other's hands and smiled through our tears. I turned around and walked towards customs, pain in every step. I was leaving the man I loved behind, and I didn't know what the future had in store for us.
*FOUR YEARS LATER*
I pulled my bag off the conveyor belt and put it on my trolley, breathing a little heavily. One more bag left. My phone went off and I took it out of my bag.
Hey, have you landed yet? - Josh
I looked up from my phone and saw my last bag coming closer to me, I quickly put my phone away and picked it up, putting it on my trolley. I moved away from the crowd around the conveyor belt and quickly sent Josh a reply.
Yeah, landed about 20 mins ago. Just need to go through customs now. - Joy
I walked through customs in a matter of minutes and came out to the duty free shops. I could see the double doors leading out to where people were waiting for passengers. My heart started beating loudly in my chest as I sped up and walked towards them. I was about to see Josh. The Josh I fell in love with 4 years ago while I was on holiday.
What if he completely changed? What if he didn't like me anymore? My nerves made my throat feel like it was being strangled and I could feel a lump in my throat as if I was about to break into tears. I didn't want to go through those doors anymore, I wanted to go back. Something would go wrong, it had been 4 years, a long distance relationship was never as strong as a normal relationship.
I started breathing deeply to calm myself, mumbling to myself that it was going to be ok, that Josh still loved me. I blinked hard and then with one final deep breath, I pushed through the doors.
I looked around the crowd, walking slowly so I could spot him. I was sweating slightly and my mouth felt dry. "Joy!" I froze and looked over at the direction the voice came from. I gasped as I saw him. Josh. He looked so different, so much more mature. I smiled as he walked over and took the trolley from me, wheeling it away from the crowd to a free space.
As soon as he let go of the trolley, he held me in a tight hug. "I missed you." He whispered, talking into my neck. "I missed you too." I whispered back, happy tears flooding my eyes. Josh moved back slightly so he could look at me. "You look gorgeous." He quietly said, pushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. I smiled and stroked his beard. "You've grown a lot of hair on your face."
Josh chuckled before pulling me into a kiss. I smiled into it, his love for me hadn't changed. He still held me tightly and kissed me just as passionately as he had four years ago.
He smiled and let go of me, moving back. I frowned in confusion at he was doing. Then I realised what he was about to do. I started crying as he got down on one knee and pulled out a little box. "Joy, I've loved you for four years now. And those four years of us dating was amazing. The only problem was the distance. I couldn't have you in my arms when I wanted to, I couldn't speak to you when I needed to. We could only Skype and text, but that doesn't even compare to having you here in real life. That's why I want you to stay with me, as my wife. I want to hold you when I want to, I want to speak to you when I need you, I want for us to be there for each other. So will you become Joy Adria Zerker?"
I nodded through my tears and Josh got up, putting the ring on my finger and holding me in another tight hug. I could hear cheers from behind, the whole crowd had seen the most beautiful moment in my life. And I was grateful it was with Josh, the man I loved. I love you Joy." He whispered, tears in his eyes. I wiped away his tears and pecked his lips before replying. "I love you too Josh."
