"Pick up, moron."
Taehyung was pacing round his room, cursing himself for giving in to Jungkook so easily. But in his defence, he did try to tell him that they had classes tomorrow and maybe this wasn't a good idea, but then Kookie only went and pouted, so of course he had to give in, and then spend the next ten minutes thinking of the ways he could put those pretty lips to good use.
"The number you are calling is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
He threw his phone down onto the bed. "Jesus Christ! What is he doing?!"
He looked at his alarm clock, which was rather unhelpfully showing the correct time, increasing Taehyung's panic because he knew that Jungkook would never stay out this late.
He had to leave for his classes in an hour, but he couldn't exactly just leave Jungkook to rot away wherever the hell he was.
Taehyung picked up his phone, sighing, and called again.
"The number you are calling is currently un-"
"Oh for FUCK'S SAKE!"
He sat down on the bed, rubbing his forehead while debating whether to chance leaving the flat and hoping that he would turn up, or calling for help.
He picked up his phone, tapped on the needed number and waited.
"Dude, it's six in the morning. What the hell do you want?"
"Jungkook didn't come home yesterday."
"I don't know where he is."
"That idiot is going to get himself killed one day, I swear to god."
"I know! So what do I do?"
"Just carry on like normal, he'll probably turn up."
Taehyung snorted. "Thanks a lot.."
"The kid knows how to handle himself, don't worry. If he's not back after class then call me and we'll go bust up his shit."
"I don't know what that even means but okay."
"Now shut up, I need my beauty sleep."
"You really do, ugly sister."
Taehyung hung up and sighed.
He decided to take Jimin's advice (God knows why), and started getting dressed.
Obviously, he thought, the best way to combat this stress was to eat pancakes. But everyone knows that letting Taehyung into a kitchen should be illegal.
Just like Jungkook, but that wouldn't stop him..
Taehyung shook his head. Nope.
The next best thing to homemade pancakes is..not homemade pancakes? Taehyung spent a good five minutes searching for his car keys, only to discover they were in his pocket, and set off for the diner next to his college.
Jin watched Taehyung struggling to open the door. He was pushing with all his might, but it just wouldn't budge. Obviously, he had neglected to notice the 'PULL' sign.
Jin chuckled and opened the door for him, muttering something about 'damned aliens', not that Taehyung was affected in the slightest, as if he'd be embarrassed by such petty things.
"Long time no see, Tae."
"Yeah, I've been busy with college."
Taehyung flushed. "Shut up and make me pancakes, dammit."
Jin walked over the kitchen.
"Joonie! Tae's here."
"Cool, I'll just go and say hi the-"
There was an obnoxiously loud crash.
"Namjoon, that is the third tray you've smashed in the last half an hour."
"Why the hell did I even hire you?"
"Because I'm hot."
"Not gonna deny that, now get out before you break something else."
Taehyung chuckled. Nothing had changed here, then.
"How are you?"
"I'm good. How come you're alone today? You usually bring the cute one with you right?"
Jin called from the kitchen. "The cute one?"
"Not as cute as you, Jinnie," he said, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, um, Jungkook spent the night with a friend."
"OH my GOD! JEON JUNGKOOK I SWEAR TO GOD I AM GOING TO-"
Namjoon covered Taehyung's mouth with his hand. "Calm down, people are staring."
Which was a lie, the diner was completely empty, but he listened all the same.
Taehyung took a deep breath.
Jungkook sheepishly walked up to him.
"Sorry...I forgot to say. I was staying with Jimin."
"My ass, you were staying with Jimin. I called him this morning."
"Did I say Jimin? I meant Yoongi."
"Yoongi comes back from Daegu tomorrow."
"Stop it. Where were you?"
Jungkook looked at the floor, his cheeks bright pink.
Taehyung sighed. "Kookie, I don't care who you were with or what you did with them, okay? Just where were you? I was worried."
Jungkook suddenly understood what Taehyung meant and turned bright red. "N-no! It wasn't like that! I just missed the last bus and slept at the station."
Taehyung was silent for a minute.
"You missed the last bus?" He chuckled.
"I got lost, okay, it was dark, shut up."
He wrapped his arms around Jungkook and hugged him tightly. "Just be careful next time."
The younger nodded against his shoulder.
"Were you really that worried?"
"Yes, you moron! I was scared something had happened to you!"
Jungkook giggled, the breath tickling Taehyung's neck. He pulled away, saying, "It's so sweet that you care that much," and poking his cheeks.
He reached out to ruffle Jungkook's hair and muttered, "Yeah, yeah, just hurry up and order, alright?" Jungkook nodded and saluted. "Yes, sir." Taehyung felt the sudden urge to kiss him, but held himself back. But he was surprised to find Jungkook leaning in and pecking him on the nose. "I can look after myself, you know, but thank you anyway, Tae."
Jungkook smiled, which Taehyung couldn't stop himself from returning.
And he was pretty sure that his insides had melted.
