The Blame

Someone else's POV:

The Avengers were worried about Savannah, of course. Tony and Thor were concerned the most, though for reasons entirely different. Nevertheless, they were concerned, and so an impromptu Avengers meeting had been called for, once again excluding Savannah.

'We need to talk about Savannah,' Tony started, 'I don't think she's taken the loss of Loki very well.'

'It could be that she blames herself,' said Steve, 'After all, she most likely thinks that Loki killed Doom because of her.'

'And he did,' Clint added, rather unhelpfully. This earnt him a venom laced glare from Natasha.

'Yes, but because she thinks that Loki killed Doom because of her, she also believes that Loki is being tortured because of her,' Natasha explains, a small eye-roll the only thing betraying her impatience.

'I don't get it,' Clint said, and everyone sighed.

'Okay, Clint,' Bruce said, 'Say Natasha had a contract, which she couldn't break, ever, and you made her do so, because you were unable to defend yourself, wouldn't you blame yourself if and when Natasha gets punished?'

'Right,' says Clint, 'So Savannah blames herself for all of this?'

'Yes.'

Savannah felt guilty that her best friend was being tortured to death for something that she felt that she could avoid if she hadn't been so ... weak. Tony was perfectly happy to accept this explanation, as were the other Avengers.

Except Thor.

Thor, who can sense that there is something more between his brother and the mortal, something much bigger than simple friendship, and he knows that Savannah is grieving over the loss of a life she feels could be prevented.

After all, Thor's felt the same way, once before.

A/N: Short, but, once again, necessary.
