The next morning Hermione lead me down to the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall for breakfast. We met Harry and Ron, and we sat down next to them. There were no teachers present for breakfast yet. Owls came fluttering through the Great Hall above head and a light brown owl dropped off a Daily Prophet next to Hermione. A black owl landed in front of me with a letter tied to it's leg; it was my 'family''s owl, and it was addressed to me.
I took the letter addressed to myself off of the owl's leg and the owl fluttered off. I slid the ribbon holding the letter together off, and the letter unrolled. Harry, Ron, and Hermione all looked at me, so I read the note aloud.
You must come home for Christmas Break. Failure to, and you shall be punished.
"What the hell's that supposed to mean?" I said.
"That if you don't go to your home for Christmas Break, you're gonna be punished?" Ron said sheepishly.
I rolled my eyes.
"I think I got that," I pointed out.
"Just trying to help.." he whispered and stared into his plate of food.
"Look sorry, but seriously. Do you think they're mad at me or anything?" I asked
"Did you tell them that-"
"No, Harry. I would never tell them that i switched to Gryffindor!" It was a silly question, and even Harry knew it.
"Well maybe somebody else told them.." Hermione said, with a thought.
"You mean like," I thought for a few seconds "Draco?"
Hermione simply nodded.
"But how does Draco know that you switched?" Ron said. "I thought it just happened last night?"
"Draco wouldn't know, it's not possible Ron," Harry stated. "There's no possible way he would know that."
"Except if he was there listening in on your guys' conversation?" Hermione said.
I finally put the pieces together.
"Draco was at the bottom of the steps after I came out of Dumbledore's office. He must have heard us talking or something, then sent an owl to my, his, parents," I started out.
"But then-" "Ron started.
I looked at Ron with a glare and he instantly was silent, so I continued.
"Draco must have snuck up to the Owlry, and sent the letter to-" I explained, until someone cut me off.
"So what if I did?" A snarling voice said, approaching us. "What're you gonna do about it? I already told them, and we've invited a very important visitor to have dinner with us for Christmas Eve." A smirk covered Draco's face.
My jaw clenched. Everyone around us was looking over to see what was going on.
I stood up, and faced Draco.
"Yeah? Well I already have a place to stay for Christmas Break," I lied, straight to his face.
He glared intimidately at me.
"What, gonna spend Christmas with the Weasley's? Or-"
"Yes, actually she is," said Ginny Weasley, standing up by my side.
"Shut up, Blood-traitor, no one wants to listen to you," Draco hissed.
"Well no one wants to listen to you either Draco, so would you mind leaving us? So we can return to eating peacefully?" I scowled, and spat at his feet.
I could hear the snickers of laughter from the people, watching Draco obviously embarrassed.
Draco's face hardened at his glare turned into a full out murder look.
He reached for his wand, but it was not long after I had already taken mine out. The anticipation grew in the Great Hall, and people were shouting things, and yelling things to do.
We both raised our wands.
I saw a figure in a cloak come up from behind Draco, and grab his arm.
A cold voice whispered, "Come with me, Draco," and Snape's greasy, oily hair appeared over the shoulder of Draco.
I still had my wand raised, but I was beginning to lower it when I felt a hand grasp my arm.
"Magic will not be used like this, will it?" said McGonagall behind me. I half turned my head around with my mouth slightly open and become face-to-face with McGonagall.
"To my office," she said, and I saw Snape lead Draco out of the Great Hall. McGonagall started walking ahead of me, and I turned and looked at Harry.
I mouthed two words: 'Follow them'.
He nodded, and I followed McGonagall out of the Great Hall.
Minutes later, we reached her office and she closed the door.
"Sit," she said, and pointed to a chair in front of her desk. I sat down.
"Do you realise that you could have caused an injury to your brother?" McGonagall said, and sat down.
I opened my mouth to deny that he was my brother, but then closed it because nobody else knew about the sorting hat incident.
"My mistake, your second cousin," she said, a slight smile peeking up on her face.
"My, my second cousin?" I looked up at her, rather than staring in my lap and talking to her."What do you mean, 'my second cousin'? How do you-"
"I know who your father is, and I believe you do also," McGonagall said.
I knew..
That moment it struck me, I knew who my father was.
It was-
A shock zapped through my body, and I fell to the ground, paralyzed.
