Chapter-22: What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger.

I made my way towards the front of the school with a scowl on my face. I knew that I looked like an unfazed girl, who didn't care about anything and would beat anyone who came in her way just because she could. I sure as hell didn't feel that way.

"Rose?" Came a mild question from behind. I turned around slowly, wondering who it was. Liam stood there, a timid smile on his face as he took in my appearance. His smile slowly drained away and he opened his arms saying, "Come here you poor thing."

I stared for a second, before hurtling myself into his arms with a sigh, and blinking away tears coming in the corner of my eyes.
"Liam," I cried out, sinking into his arms, "You're not mad at me?" I asked, burying my face into his shirt. Oh, how I had missed him. How much, I realised I was missing my best friends. I wished Chad would come too, but I knew he was hurt beyond words and I would have to do something special to make it up to him. Melody was a lost cause. I didn't know what would help me salvage our friendship.

"Why would I be mad at you?" Liam asked me in a confused voice, ruffling my hair. I didn't care. My hair could go through a hurricane right now and I wouldn't care.

"Because Mel is, and so is Chad, and Zed too, and you saw what happened in the cafeteria, and I don't know why you would even want to remain friends with me," I admitted to his arms.
"Well, I did witness it," Liam sighed, "but you're fighting with Melody and Chad, Rose, not me. Why would I be unhappy with you? You're my best friend. Everyone has their faults, and yours was just that you're oblivious of things at times. That's not a bad thing. That's okay, nobody's perfect. Mel's quite lost in herself, and Chad is pushing everyone away. I think you guys forgot that I don't have anyone else except you three too. I've been quite alone- and it's not even my fault," Liam mumbled, so quietly, that I had to listen more carefully. I heard the bell ring somewhere behind us, meaning that everyone would be in their classes now.

"I'm sorry," I told him, still in his arms.
"I know you are," Liam smiled into my hair.

"Well, it's been a whole 3 minutes in this hug now, and I'd like to know your intentions towards my girlfriend," came the clearly amused voice of Jacob.
"What?" Liam asked incredulously, leaving me abruptly and falling a few steps behind.
"Girlfriend?" He asked, an astonished expression on his face.
"That's what I've been asking too for the past week," muttered Paul, standing with Jacob.

"Past week? A whole week? But when? Why? How? Zed? What?" Liam's face had a look of doubt, amazement and surprise, as he tried to connect the dots.
"It's a long story," I groaned, dragging myself over to Jacob, and giving him a playful slap.
"Thanks a lot for keeping it a secret, Jake," I grumbled.
He held his cheek with a playful expression in his eye, and said, "Ouch, that hurt, Rose! That was unfair- no one except one of your best friends and mine knows about it- everyone else is in class. Now give me a kiss to make it better."

"In your dreams," I teased him back.
"Well, then we can stay here for as long as you don't kiss me," Jacob sighed playfully, holding my arm in his hand, and pulling it towards himself. Since I didn't budge even a bit, he used his special ability of controlling wind, to push me towards him. I gasped, as I literally fell into his arms. He quickly tightened them around me.

"Really Jacob?" I grinned at him, rotating my left hand and concentrating my power on him.
Jacob winced from the burn his hand got for a moment, before removing his left hand from around me to hold my hands in his grip.
"Now, I'm not going to let go before I get a kiss. I might have before, but not now," he gave a grim grin back.
I tried to head butt him, but he dodged, turning his neck towards his left.

"Are you done?" Came a bored groan from behind. Startled, I tried to turn, but Jacob held me in his hold.
"Hi Chris," Jacob acknowledged him.
"Whatever," came the reply.
"And who are you, might I ask?" Liam inquired.
"Lord Lucifer, though you can just call me Lord," Chris replied back smoothly.
