I opened my eyes to a dim light. I instantly knew I had woken up too early, which really bummed me out considering it was a Saturday. My alarm clock glared a familiar combination of numbers saying 6:42am. It should have been another couple hours before I woke up. I sat up and yawned, then got out of my bed. I made my way to the bathroom, and picked up my toothbrush. I struggled to get the toothpaste out of, partially because I was half asleep, and partially because it was almost empty.

After cleaning up and getting dressed, I found my way to the kitchen where my Mom was sitting at the table. She smiled when she saw me.

"Well good morning. You're up awfully early." She laughed a bit. I nodded as I grabbed a bowl and the box of cereal we kept in the pantry. I poured myself some and then sat down at the table across from my Mom. It was silent for a moment as she sipped her coffee and stared out the windows.

"Any plans for today?" She asked me. I shook my head in response. "No? You don't have any plans with friends or anything, huh?" Suddenly Kizumi's face flashed through my mind. I nearly choked on my cereal. We weren't close enough for him to even consider me an acquaintance, I was sure. I shook him from my mind as I stood and carried my empty cereal bowl to the sink. As I rinsed it out I looked up at the clock above me, then out the window in front of me. Maybe I could take a walk to pass some time?

"Hey Mom?" I asked as I opened the dishwasher, placing my bowl inside.

"Yes?" She replied.

"I'm going to take a walk, if that's alright." I closed the dishwasher and turned to face her, waiting for a reply. She nodded and sipped her coffee again.

"That's fine with me. Don't be gone all day though. At least check in with me if it's a long walk." She said. I nodded and went back to my room to grab my socks, my phone, and some money. I pulled on my socks down by the door, then my shoes. I said goodbye to my Mom, then opened the door. Fresh, cool air swirled around me. It was a pretty nice morning. I glanced down at my phone screen before I began walking out of my driveway.

I passed by some houses, somewhat similar to mine, but after some time, I hit town. The larger part of town was up ahead, but I just wanted to walk around the smaller part. I passed various shops, only glancing at them as I passed. By now, the sun was up a little further, and it was a bit warmer. Not uncomfortably so, but warmer. After some time, I started wishing I had brought some water with me, It was good thing I remembered to grab my money. I looked around me at the stores. There were a lot I could have gone to, but I went into the one closest to me.

I looked around the store a bit, but eventually made my way back to drink aisle. There, I grabbed a cheap water and started heading back. I remembered the empty toothpaste tube suddenly, and figured I might as well get some while I was here. It wasn't that expensive anyways. I looked around for a minute, reading the signs hanging above the aisles. I spotted the hygiene section and headed over there.

There was a lot of toothpaste, but I managed to find the one that we usually got. After double checking that it was the right one, I started to walk away from the toothpaste section. However, as I turned the corner of the aisle to go check out, I ran into someone. I stumbled back a couple feet, nearly falling from the amount of force I hit them with. As I looked up at who it was to apologize, I froze for a moment.
