Sorry for beign late for next chapter but I had an artistic and writing block...
SO without future delay ENJOY!
Reader Cookie floated in that soft space between sleep and waking. Warm. Safe. Almost peaceful.
Except for that tiny itch in their mind whispering that something was wrong. Not a monster-under-the-bed wrong. More like a clown-with-fangs-who-definitely-owes-you-an-explanation wrong.
The memories hit like bad crumbs. The kidnapping. The bite. Shadow Milk Cookie leaning in a little too close with that grin he wore like a badly tuned violin. And the draining feeling that followed. Weakness. Dizzy warmth. A strange tug in their chest that almost felt like... affection?
No. No it did not. Pain maybe. Panic definitely. But not that.
Reader Cookie sighed. Time to wake up and confront the clown. Preferably with questions. And maybe a rolling pin if they could find one.
Their eyes opened to a ceiling full of stars. Not real stars. Painted ones. Sparkly enough to be dramatic without the risk of catching fire.
"Well... at least it's not the dungeon," they muttered.
They checked the room. Empty. Finally, some luck. The breath they'd been holding escaped in a shaky puff.
The bed was comfortable. Suspiciously so. And they weren't tied down this time, which was progress or a trap.
They spotted a dresser with a small mirror and immediately needed to know what their neck looked like. They stood up too fast and gravity took personal offense.
They hit the carpet with a thump.
"Brilliant idea. Amazing execution," they groaned. "At least it's carpet. Small victories."
After rising at a safer speed, they reached the mirror. What they saw made their stomach flip.
A mark. A souljam-like symbol. Not Pure Vanilla's. Shadow Milk's. Split clean down the center, inverted like a reflection with an attitude problem. It pulsed faintly.
As they stared, a prickling sensation crawled up their spine. Someone, something, was watching.
They spun around.
A mass of shifting darkness hovered near the corner. Two bright eyes blinked at them, pupils shaped like little hearts.
"BEGONE, BEAST!" Reader Cookie snapped, pointing at it like an angry grandma scolding a stray pet.
The eyes widened, then somehow managed to pout before melting back into the shadows.
"I can't even have privacy. Amazing," they muttered.
A voice floated out of the dark, cheerful as ever.
"I am afraid that's not going to happen any time soon."
Shadow Milk Cookie stepped out as if he'd been waiting for a dramatic cue. Same layered voice, same crooked smile, same vibe of "I belong in a cautionary tale."
Reader Cookie glared. "Oh good. Mister 'Kidnaps First, Talks Never.' Perfect."
He laughed. "Talk? I do talk."
"Why did you bite me? Why kidnap me? Why anything? Pick one and answer."
His smile snapped into a serious line. His voice dropped low, almost a growl. "Not others."
They blinked. "What?"
"Not others," he repeated, softer this time. "Only you."
Reader Cookie stared with the flattest stare known to cookiekind. "Wow. I feel special."
