“Had you stayed you wouldn't be in this mess.” Dumbledore told me, peering over his spectacles. I swore at him viciously and turned away, not in the mood for the adages of an old man. “I deserved that,” he continued sadly, I looked back and found him sitting now in a chair, but I was used to his peculiarities. “You deserve a whole lot more than just words.” I whispered, commenting aloud, but more to myself than anyone else. “You’re right, and you would also be right in thinking that you do not have to talk with me.” He looked solemnly up and I sighed; conjuring up a chair as I sat. “I know. But I want to know something, and you-.”
“Yes I will answer truthfully.” He answered before the question was asked.
“Why did it have to be Lupin?” I wasn’t positive I wanted to hear the answer.
“He was all you had left, it was the only person left that you cared enough about to feel betrayed by.” He looked down, ashamed.
“And you didn’t think that I would be open to a suggestion without the need for the removal of body parts?!” I shouted, my anger getting the better of me.
“No I knew that if you defected to Voldemort without a reason, you wouldn't have the trust he has… Well, had for you.” He smiled ironically, and I knew it even without removing my hands from over my face. “So I had to get Lupin to attempt at taking your life, making sure he remembered none of it and-”
I cut in; “And ensuring that I would hate you all and help Voldemort. Using me the same way you use Snape.”
“Snape does what he does for reasons other than-” he sounded defensive, a new move for Dumbledore. “For Lilly then, but I suppose it doesn’t matter to a dead man.” I asked cautiously.
“You would be surprised.” He answered.
“Yes I would.” I stood and closed the distance between us and watched his eyes closely. “Because you’re not dead.” he smirked and I was disgusted yet fascinated as the extensive white hair receded and his skull changed shape, the nose flattened and the brow became more prominent. Lastly his eyes shifted dauntingly from the brilliant blue into the sparkling red. “What gave me away?” he asked, in his cold voice, completely devoid of emotion. “What led you to think it was me?”
I chuckled, “You were too abrupt with your greeting, Dumbledore dawdles horribly until he decides to actually get to the point, and then you were defensive when I brought up Severus, something that Dumbledore would regret doing at all.” I left out the final observation in vain.
“And then what else, or you wouldn't have waited so long.” He picked up on small things quickly, perhaps why he was so powerful. “I…” I started to speak but he reached over and clutched my throat.
I woke up and we were in the same position save that he was looming over me and he was inside my head, I could literally feel him rummaging for something, I shuddered with pleasure but was still nervous. “It was because of your eyes.” I pulled away his hand, with what I knew was not a tiny bit of my strength. “You look at me with total ownership, something that no-one else has ever done, not even my father.” I finished, waiting for my head to stop being rummaged through. “You aren’t going to find anything- not unless you were planning on fucking me.” I said impatiently after a while. He just looked up angrily and slapped me across the face; I was stunned by the abrupt action and could do nothing but stare at him as his hand moved back to where it had been before.
