Morning light filtered through the CID bureau as everyone gathered near the conference zone. A rare excitement buzzed through the air.
ACP Pradyuman stepped out of his cabin, arms folded, voice steady.
“Team, from today a new ACP will be joining us. The higher officials have appointed him. He’s a very capable officer.”
Pankaj leaned toward Purvi and whispered—loudly, as always—
“Great, another ACP… now my promotion is officially a dream.”
Purvi raised an eyebrow. “You need to work first to get promoted, Pankaj.”
“I do work! Sometimes…” he muttered.
Before she could respond, the main door opened.
A tall, composed young man walked in—Ayushman Raichand. Calm eyes, quiet confidence, respectful demeanor.
Pradyuman stepped forward.
“Welcome to CID, ACP Ayushman Raichand.”
Ayushman nodded. “Thank you, sir. It’s an honor to join your team.”
Daya stepped up first, smiling.
“I’m Senior Inspector Daya. Welcome, sir.”
Ayushman shook his hand firmly.
“I’ve heard about you. The strongest officer—and the best door breaker.”
Daya grinned proudly. “Sir, doors break themselves when they see me.”
Abhijeet came next, sharp eyes observing Ayushman.
“Senior Inspector Abhijeet.”
Ayushman met his gaze with equal seriousness.
“Looking forward to working with you.”
Something unspoken passed between the two—two calm storms recognizing each other.
Purvi, Bhoomi, and Kritika stepped ahead.
Purvi smiled warmly.
“Sir, welcome to the team. I’m Inspector Purvi.”
Bhoomi added happily, “Inspector Bhoomi, sir. Excited to work with you.”
Kritika waved enthusiastically.
“Inspector Kritika. We’re fun, sir… and sometimes professional too.”
“Sometimes?” Bhoomi nudged her.
Ayushman nodded politely. “Nice meeting you all.”
Then Pankaj rushed forward, chest puffed proudly.
“Inspector Pankaj! The heart of CID… and the comedy king.”
Abhijeet sighed. “Only in his dreams.”
Daya added, “Sir, don’t take him seriously. He’s our entertainment package.”
Pankaj defended himself, “Hey! I’m a very serious officer. I only get scared when ghosts appear…”
Bhoomi smirked, “Which is almost every day.”
The whole team laughed.
Ayushman finally smiled—genuinely.
“This team… definitely feels lively.”
Pradyuman placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“Ayushman, here at CID we’re not just colleagues… we are family.”
