Percy's POV

Annabeth and I fall under the water. I create a water bubble and will the wave to stop. It doesn't seem to want to listen, but it finally does. I realize that I'm still hugging Annabeth close to me, but she doesn't seem to mind.

"Are you okay?" I ask tentatively.

"Um," is all she says.

I look at her and realize that her left arm is a bloody mess. I can see a bit of her bone sticking through her skin.

"Oh my gods, Annabeth, how did this happen? How long has it been there? Is it infected?"

"Slow down, Percy. I got it from some daughter of Apollo. She got me off balance and I fell down on sharp rocks. This happened about an hour ago. And I don't know if it's infected."

I'm still worried, more so than I probably would be if it was anyone else. I don't know why I feel so protective of her.

We sit in awkward silence for a while at the bottom of our bubble. After the dreams I've been having recently, I feel like I'm connected to Annabeth in some way. It sounds weird and impossible, but I feel like we had a life together.

"Do you-"

"Are you-"

We both start at the same time.

"You first," I insist.

"Alright. Do you feel like...something's missing? Something that was important in your life, something that is a part of you, is gone?"

"Yeah, yeah I do. It feels like something I need has been torn apart from me," I say in a hushed voice.

Our bubble was drifted to the surface. I wrap my arms around her, careful of her injured one, and we climb out.

There's a weird collapsed tree which covers up a cave thing. I climb in to make sure it's empty. It is.

I motion for Annabeth to come in and she does. She winces as she lands.

"Are you ok-"

She collapses right in front of me. I catch her in my arms and gently set her down on the floor. Her complexion is pale and has a greenish tint to it.

"Gods, Annabeth, I'm sorry that I didn't notice. I'm so sorry-"

"Percy, be quiet. Just...hold me."

"Okay. Okay."

I position myself under Annabeth so that her head rests on my chest. Her breathing is labored, but steady.

"You're okay," I whisper to her. "You'll be okay."

I kiss her forehead. It's burning hot.

She drifts to sleep, still squeezing my hand.

I lay there with her curls splayed across my chest. I hear a slight buzzing noise in a corner and I turn my head and see a camera disguised in the rocks.

I want to roll my eyes, but I remember out something my dad told me before the games started.

"We will be watching. The gods have the power to give you supplies, to help you. The only way it will happen is if you get us to like you. I'm not allowed to send something to you, that's a show of favoritism. But there are others that will give you what you need."

So instead, I smooth Annabeth's hair down and kiss her forehead again. She stirs and opens her eyes.

"Percy," she says.

"I'm here, Annabeth. I'll always be right here for you."

"Percy, I'm not feeling well."

"I know. Just sleep and everything will be alright."

She grips my hand tighter.

"Percy, I remember. I remember nursing you back to health. I remember  you and I trapped on an island with a sorceress. I remember you holding up the sky for me. I remember kissing behind a rock, with a volcano spewing smoke. I remember getting stabbed so you wouldn't get hurt," she shivers, but doesn't stop talking. "I remember kissing in the canoe lake. I remember you missing for months and I needed you, Percy, I need you. I found you, and you found me. I remember you and me fighting for our lives in a dark place, miles below the earth. I remember friends dying for us. Please, Percy, tell me you remember!"

In reply, I lean down and kiss her on the mouth.

In that moment, I remember.

Annabeth glaring at me in camp, us making fun of each other, me going crazy when she went missing during the winter, finding her and knowing she was alright, she throwing herself between a knife and me, falling through the darkness, clutching on to each other.

We separate and the memories disappear.

"I love you, Seaweed Brain," she mutters as she falls back asleep.

"I love you too," I say to the darkness of the cave.

I fall asleep to the sound of her breathing.
