The moment Remi and Deku stood against them, something felt off. Different. Wrong.
it wasnt the exhaustion, not the battle-worn suits hanging off their bruised bodies. Something else. Something in the way they moved.
Jiro shifted uneasily, her grip tightening. "She's moving weird."
"Yeah." Kaminari muttered, blinking, his breath catching.
"It's not just her." sero adds
Deku stood beside her, his stance lower, heavier, more weighted than before, his expression blank but intense. detached but unwavering.
Not cold. Not cruel. Just... distant.
Ochacho's fingers twitched, her breath uneven, watching them both, watching the shift in their presence, watching the way they no longer seemed like themselves.
"Deku..."
He didn't answer. Didn't blink. Didn't hesitate. The charge of his Quirk crackled against his skin. The tension thickened.
"please leave!" he snaps, and then they moved. and it was nothing like before.
Bakugo's jaw tightened, fists clenching by his sides, eyes narrowed. "The hell is wrong with you?"
The words came low, quieter than his usual bark, edged with something too close to real concern. She didn't answer. Didn't even look at him. And that pissed him off more than anything. Because Remi never ignored him.
"Thank you for coming. Really." Deku knelt slightly, his body hunched, the weight of exhaustion and battle pressing against his frame. Purple smoke billowed from his skin, curling along the ground, thick, suffocating, obscuring everything in its reach.
Remi and Deku stood back-to-back, tension coiled between them, unspoken but understood.
Then they moved. splitting apart in opposite directions, vanishing into the chaos.
"Of course. their acting exactly like the hero's said they would." ocacho mutters.
"Heads up, morons! Make sure they dont escape." bakugo yells, blasting the ground and creating a open area from the smoke. His voice was sharp, mocking, edged with frustration.
"Barely a word, and you're running away?"
Eyes locked onto Remi and Deku, their classmates knowing their tasks, knowing there was no room for hesitation.
They split. Half for Deku. Half for Remi.
Koda's voice rang out, loud, desperate but determined. "Everyone wants you back at UA!"
Remi's gaze flickered, momentarily pulled, he had always been so quite, now he yelled the loudest in that moment. The boy commanded a swarm of birds, their movements sharp, rushing toward her and Deku, closing the gap, cutting off their escape routes.
"Did you hear me?" Koda pushed forward, urgency in his voice.
"Principal Nezu said we can bring you both back to campus! There's no reason for you to keep hiding!"
Deku exhaled just barely, just enough for it to sound like something breaking. "I'm sorry."
Then Blackwhip snapped out, cracking against the air, Deku launching himself upward, tearing free from the cloud of birds, surging toward the skyline.
Remi grit her teeth, her breath short, sharp, uneven, but her movements didn't falter. She dropped fast, hitting the ground staggering, just slightly, just enough for it to be noticeable.
Jiro lunged, fast, but before she could connect Remi shifted, her foot twisting against the pavement, her magic igniting in a snap beneath her soles. she surged a blast of energy propelled her upward, ripping through the air, sending her toward the skyline like a bullet
