Reader's POV:

We arrive at the hospital about thirty minutes later. I quickly run to the front desk. A lady types away on her laptop. She doesn't bother to look at me. She simply keeps her eyes focused on the bright screen.

"Excuse me, do you know anything about Daniel James Howell? Umm...like what room he's in?" Tears run down my cheeks as I speak, my voice shaky.

The lady doesn't bother to look up. I wait for a little bit, turning around to (y/bff/n). She sits on a chair a couple feet down. Crying. Her hands cover her face and i can see her body shaking. I wonder if that's how i look right now. I bite my nails and tap my foot. Nothing. I clear my voice and try again, this time making myself clear.

"I said, do you know anything about Daniel James Howell?" Still no response. "Please! I NEED ANSWERS!" I scream, catching everyones attention. I then slide down the tall front desk and begin to sob. Putting my knees to my chest and my arms around my legs, I start to cry like never before. How can they do this to me? WHY?

"(y/n)!(y/bff/n)! I hear someone say. I jerk my head up to the sound of an all too familiar voice.

"Phil!" (y/bff/n) says. She gets up and out of her chair and runs to him. They embrace, tears streaming down both of their faces. I can see the horror in Phil's eyes as he looks at me. After they hug, he whispers something in her ear. She nods and disappears down a corridor. Phil walks over to me and sits right next to me. He puts an arm around me and i dig my head into his chest, crying even more. He doesn't seem to mind and lets me calm down. He hums soothingly into my hair. After what seems like forever, I lift my head up and rest it on his shoulder. We stay like that for a while until he speaks up.

"I heard It was a drunk driver." he says, his voice shaky. He looks right into my eyes. "(y/n), I-"

He's interrupted by the sounds of a door opening and voices talking and arguing down a very long corridor. I notice they wheel a patient to the emergency room. I also notice that the patient isn't just a patient. It's Dan.

I get up, my eyes starting to water as the doctors and nurses yell over him. I begin to run in the direction they went. I cant hear anything. My whole body feels numb.

The floor beneath me begins to open up. Everything around me disappears. I fall into the dark. It embraces me as I keep falling downwards into nothing. People try and grab me, their faces deformed, and their mouths sowed together into a tight line. Then I see him. On the other side of the dark room. A light shows his bruised face. Scars line his jaw and neck. His eyes completely empty. Dan.

I call out to him, but nothing seems to come out of my mouth. Then something from behind pulls me away from him and I scream as loud as i possibly can, but no one hears me. I try to pry myself from the thing that's pulling me away, but it doesn't seem to be working.  The thing stops and lets me go. I turn around and look straight in his face. "You can't run anymore. No ones here to save you. Not even Dan." Shawn says.

Then I wake up.

I sit upright, breathing heavily as my eyes adjust to the light in front of me. Pairs of eyes stare down at me.

"(y/n)! Your awake! Oh my gosh you had me worried sick!"

"(y/bff/n)?" I say a bit confused.

"Uh-hu. How could you do this to me?" She says almost screaming. I turn my head to the side and find I'm in Dan's apartment, lying on his sofa. Party decorations line the walls.

"What am i doing here?" I ask a bit muddled.

"You don't remember, do you?"

I shake my head.

"Umm... well-" she begins, but is cut off by an articulate British accent. "You passed out." My eyes widen at his presence. He has a small bruise on his cheek and dry blood covers his neck.

"Dan!" I say and get up a little to quickly, making me stumble a little. I hug him tight, not wanting to let go. He doesn't hesitate to hug back.

"I thought you were at the hospital! A drunk driver ran over you. I-I saw you on a hospital bed being wheeled into-"

"Whoa. What? No one was at the hospital. I'm fine see?" He says before I get to finish. He spreads his arms out to the side and spins around slowly to ensure that he was fine.

"Then how-Why was-we were-" Then i start to cry. Dan puts his arms around me as I sob into his chest. The thought of loosing him hit me. So it was all just a dream? It felt so real though. What if it wasn't REM sleep? What if Dan getting ran over by a stupid drunk driver did happen some day? Was the dream i had telling me something?
