Bree listened in silence and fear as her sister told everything to her parents. She didn't want anyone involved in the scary situation. She didn't want her parents to get hurt. She wanted to be brave for everyone and deal with it. She wanted to prove she was not just a kid. After all, it was her fault. She had watched that footage first. She shouldn't.

When Jess was done, her parents shared a skeptical look.

Her dad was the first one to speak, "Jess, honey, have you been watching horror movies again?"

While her mother was more worried about another thing, "You watched that on your own? I thought we told you not to." Both of them were missing the point. They were all sitting in the living room at Jess' request.

Jess let out an exasperated sigh, "Mom, I just said there was a murder in this house. Hello?"

Her father huffed, "And you say that just because you saw it on those old tapes?"

"Yes, Bree watched, too."

"What?" her mother looked at her and Bree lowered her head, "You made your little sister watch that? What were you thinking, Jess?"

"She watched first." Jess defended, "You should just watch that footage instead of wasting time here giving me a lecture."

Her mother her mouth but her father spoke first, "Alright. We'll watch it but you're grounded."

"Dad!"

"No phone for a week. Hand it over."

"No, dad, this is not fair." Jess pouted, "You should be rewarding me for discovering this house's fucked-up past."

"Language!" her mother reprimanded.

"Jess, give me your phone." Her dad insisted.

Jess glared at them while handing her phone over, "I won't forget this."

"Stop it with the attitude or it'll be for two weeks." Her dad menaced.

"Dad!" Jess groaned.

Her mother stared at Bree, "Honey, are you okay? You're quiet."

Bree forced a smile, "I'm okay, mom."

"Did Jess make you watch something bad?"

Bree shook her head, "No, mom."

"Honey, let's just take a look at those tapes." Her dad stated, "Jess, bring the box over here."

Fear filled her veins when she watched her sister bring the box back to the living room. She decided to speak up, "Mom, don't watch that."

Her mother held her shoulder tenderly, "I have to watch it, baby. I need to know what kind of things Jess made you watch."

Ignoring her protests, her parents set everything up to watch the tapes. Bree didn't want to witness it anymore. Therefore, she walked outside, feeling as if the brightness of the sun would protect her from the evil hiding in the darkness. However, when she stepped in the porch, the pale little girl from the tapes was there, sitting in the swing. Her short legs dangling in the air.

Bree swallowed, unsure of what to do.

The girl looked at her and smiled, "You don't have to be afraid."

"I'm not afraid." Bree lied.

The girl giggled, "You're a liar."

"I'm not."

"Come and sit with me."

Bree hesitated, sparing a look at the front door, "My parents are waiting for me."
